AES PTA raises nearly $65,000 in fundraiser drive for the school
The Arlington Elementary School PTA announced it raised an incredible $64,741 during its fall fundraising drive! All of the proceeds raised will be given directly back to the school to help fund school and classroom projects, purchase technology products and accessories, disburse teacher grants and more.
To help celebrate the fundraiser, students were able to participate in the annual Color Fun Run and watch Principal Tonya Hawkins and Assistant Principals Carl Booker and Katie Nelson suit up to sumo wrestle!
ACS recognizes nearly 50 AP Scholars for achievement
The ACS Board of Education recognized 49 exceptional AP Scholars for demonstrating outstanding college-level achievement on their AP exams! This is an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish and takes much focus, drive and determination.
There are 3 categories:
AP Scholar - for students who score a 3 or higher on 3 or more exams.
AP Scholar with Honor - for students who score an average of at least a 3.25 on all AP Exams AND a 3 or higher on 4 or more exams.
AP Scholar with Distinction - for students who score an average of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams AND a 3 or higher on 5 or more exams.
We are so proud of these students!
AHS Band & Color Guard look to weekend contest after scoring big in Collierville
The AHS Band & Color Guard will perform at Bartlett on Saturday, and they have their eyes set on the top prize after coming just short of taking the Grand Champion title at Collierville's Tournament of Champions last weekend. Even still, the AHS Tigers walked away with some big wins, including 1st Place in Color Guard, 1st Place in Visual Performance and 2nd Place in Class AAA. Best of luck to the Tigers this weekend!
Congratulations to October's ACS Spotlight employees
The ACS Employee Spotlight recognizes both certified and classified employees for their outstanding contributions to the district. These employees are chosen by the school's administrative team for displaying one of the five Portrait of an ACS Graduate tenants: Communicate Effectively, Collaborate Intentionally, Cultivate Creativity, Be Resilient or Lead with Empathy. Congrats to Sarah Neal (AES), Natalie Morgan (DES), Joseph Piper (AMS) and Tim Simpson (AHS)! Read why they were chosen by clicking this link!
To celebrate the district's new strategic plan, Portrait of an ACS Graduate, four employees were honored with a giveaway, sponsored by Shelby County Commissioner Amber Mills & Lee Mills! To be eligible, employees had to post on social media how they're implementing the strategic plan into their classrooms and job roles to help student achievement. The district selection committee then determined who best showcased the tenants of the strategic plan during the month of September.
Congratulations to Arlington Elementary's Katie Nelson, Donelson Elementary's Kelly Wortham, Arlington Middle's Charlotte Cantkier and Arlington High's Joel Wilhite!
