Caffeine

Discovery

While Caffeine was used for a long time before it was discovered by the intake of certain plants it was not discovered until 1819. The man who discovered it was a German by the name of Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge who was able to isolate and purified the white crystal substance. Then in 18 21 French chemist Pierre Robiquet, Pierre Pelletier, and Joseph Caventou all did the same independently with out knowledge from each other.

History

There is some very interesting tales of how people started using caffeine. The first one is a legend in china is that during the reign of Emperor Shennong in 3000 B.C the Emperor discovered tea when he noted that when certain leaves fell into boiling water a restorative drink was made. Shennong is also mentioned by Lu Yu in his book Cha Jing, a book about Tea. The history of coffee has been recorded as far back as the ninth century during that time coffee beans were only available in Ethiopia. Legends say the discovery of coffee was to a goat herder named Kaldi who observed goats become elated and sleepless at night after grazing on some plants. So he tried the berries and experience the same as the goats. The first literary mention of coffee may be a reference to Bunchum in the works of the 9th century Persian physician al-Razi.

Isaiah 40: 28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. While the Lord gave us caffeine to give us energy the Lord should be our ultimate reliance for energy and strength.
