Not Wearing A Seat Belt

Legal or Illegal?

Illegal!

I think not wearing a seat belt should be illegal because wearing a seat belt saves many lives. If you don't wear a seat belt and you end up in a car accident you could fly out the windshield, fly out of your car or get killed by the airbag. Either way, you have a more chance of dying when you don't wear a seat belt.

According to http://www.cdc.gov/motorvehiclesafety/seatbelts/facts.html "Of the teens (aged 13-20 years) that died in crashes in 2012, approximately 55% of them were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash." This means that wearing a seat belt can help save you from injuries and even death.
http://www.teendriversource.org/stats/support_teens/detail/59 says, "55 percent of young adults (ages 13-20) that died in crashes were not wearing a seat belt in 2012, a 3 percent decrease from 2011." That means 45% of young adults lived because they wore their seat belts.
According to https://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/defective-products/seat-belts/seat-belts-statistics.html in 2014, 48.1% people were not wearing a seat belt of total fatal accidents. Of those who WORE a seat belt, (during an accident) 76,452 people were not injured in 2014. This fact concludes the idea that seat belts save lives.
Not wearing a seat belt can save your life and prevent you from injuries. Death is very possible if you don't wear your seat belt and lots of people do die from not wearing seat belts as shown in the research above. When you gamble with safety you bet your life.
