EES PRIDE DAY
Hello EES Families,
We have enjoyed a wonderful few weeks of school. Students and staff are working hard, learning lots and going above and beyond everyday! We have been learning about our School Rules and CARES the last few weeks and celebrated all of our accomplishments on Friday at our PRIDE Celebration. We have three School Rules: We Take Care of Ourselves, We Take Care of Each Other, and We Take Care of our School. Our CARES stands for:
Cooperation
Assertion
Responsibility
Empathy
and
Self-Control.
At our celebration Preschool won the Cooperation Award, Kindergarten won the Assertion Award, and 1st Grade won our Responsibility Award. (We are rolling out the E. and S. in CARES when we return from break). 2nd Grade won our We Take Care of Ourselves Award, the staff won our We Take Care of Each Other Award. Our We Take Care of our School Award went to all of you; our families! Your student brought home our award to you in their Friday Folders. We want to thank you all for our unwavering support to keep our students safe and learning everyday; thank you!

Take care,

SCHOOL COUNSELORS
Hello Families,
For the past four weeks EES school counselors have been teaching “Guidance” in each classroom. Guidance consists of whole group lessons in which students can learn about and practice self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, social awareness, and decision-making. One way that school counselors support the social and emotional development of all students is through our guidance rotations, in which we teach 4-6 week units in all classrooms.
In our fall guidance rotation we focused on self-awareness and management. For our early learners the first step in this is to identify emotions in themselves and others. We talked to kids about how emotions look on faces (even with masks) and bodies, how they sound, and how they feel in our bodies. Students described events that they had strong feelings about, with a focus on noticing feelings related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
You can continue this work at home with your children. Using emotion words to describe how you and your family members are feeling is a great start. Identifying emotions is the first step in learning how to cope with strong feelings, and is something we practice often at school! The emotions/sensations wheel below can help support identifying emotions in your family.
Please feel free to reach out to your child’s school counselor if you have any questions.
We hope that you have a restful, healthy break~

HEALTH OFFICE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving.
During this Holiday Season please follow the Governors New Mitigation Measures.
I know it is difficult being away from family and friends. The more we do now, the sooner we can all be together again. Following these measures also help us as an EES community keep our students in school as long as it is safe for us to do so.
Enjoy your time off with your families,
Kimberly Bullock, BSN, RN
