TJ's April Newsletter
Thomas Jefferson School-The Tie That Binds

A Message From Dr. Sasso
TJ Community:
I cannot believe it is April already....and there is snow on the ground. This is a reminder that the Moving 15 Forward presentation for our school is on April 26th from 6 - 7:30 pm at TJ in the school cafeteria.
The presentations will provide an overview of the Moving 15 Forward plan with a particular focus on why this comprehensive plan provides all students enhanced and equitable educational opportunities and the chance to learn at near-neighborhood schools. The presentation will also include information specific to our school and any adjustments that may be made. There will be time for questions and answers during the meeting.
If you cannot make the TJ presentation time, you can attend one of the other presentations. Even though a portion of the presentation will be specific to the school where the meeting is held, most of the presentation will be the same from school to school.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sasso

Plastic Bag Collection
In April (Earth month) TJ and many other schools in the district are going to run a Community-Wide Plastic Bag Drive.
Why are we having this drive? None of the local trash haulers allow plastic bags into the recycling bins because the plastic bags harm their equipment. For this reason, most plastic bags end up in the landfill.
Clean Up - Give Back's goal is to collect thousands of pounds of these bags during Earth Month and donate them to a company that makes outdoor furniture and equipment. This company will use some of the plastic bags to make a bench which we will present to the community in September 2022.
Please have your child bring plastic shopping bags to the school and drop them off near the front entrance at any time during the month of April.

Pictures From the PTA's Awesome Boosterthon Fun Run
Our PTA Fun Run was a HUGE Success
We had another successful Fun Run this year! All of the students brought their Jaguar Spirit and Boosterthon really created the energy to make sure everyone reached their lap goals. The TJ PTA is so excited to report that we far exceeded our fundraising goal of $10,000 which means that Dr. Sasso will be SLIMED!!!! Students and teachers will get in on the action at our first indoor assembly on Friday, April 22nd!
We are all so grateful for this community and our TJ Families! The PTA is looking forward to providing the school, teachers, and students with amazing resources and events throughout the year, and we really appreciate your support! Please attend the next ZOOM PTA Meeting on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:15pm to be a part of the discussion and voting on the many ways we plan to use these funds!
A final shout out to our amazing sponsors that provided all of our students with some TJ Spirit-Wear.
