From the Desk of Principal Harris
Langston Hughes Family,
I hope that you all are well. Scholars get a bit of a break with Monday, Feb. 20th being President's Day and Tuesday, Feb. 21st being a staff workday. Scholars are off on both days. I hope that they use this time to relax, refocus, and in some cases, catch up.
Data Dash- February 28, 2023
We will be hosting our next Data Dash Meeting on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 4PM-5PM. Data Dash meetings are designed to allow parents to meet with teachers and discuss their scholar’s progress and areas for improvement. Parents will receive a copy of their scholar’s progress report upon arrival.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all our students safe at school.

Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Student Health Survey is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument that identifies school climate issues that impact student achievement. In order to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for your child, the Georgia Department of Education collects survey information from students during the school year. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and covers various topics such as school climate and safety, alcohol and drug use and mental health.
We are also asking that parents complete the Georgia Parent Survey. The Georgia Parent Survey was developed to measure parent perceptions of school climate at your child’s school. Your survey responses are confidential and will be combined with the survey responses of other parents at your child’s school to identify areas in need of improvement. It should only take ten or fifteen minutes to complete the survey. Please complete this survey by Friday, March 10, 2023.
GA Parent Survey found here: https://gshs.gadoe.org/parents
All student survey data is anonymous and self-reported. The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If you do not wish for your child to participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey, please sign and return the “GSHS Passive Consent Letter (grades 6-12)” no later than Tuesday, February 14, 2023 to Dr. Payton at paytona@fultonschools.org.
The consent letter and a preview of the questions can be found at the following site: https://www.gadoe.org/wholechild/GSHS-II/Pages/Georgia-Student-Health-Survey-II.aspx
As always, we appreciate your support.
