Character Strong: Creativity

This month we're talking about Creativity! Creativity is more than just making things or creating art - it is about exercising our imagination to help make the world better!

Creativity: Using your imagination to create something or solve a problem.

One of the best things about being a human being is our ability to imagine! We get this cool part of our brain that allows to not just think about survival, but also about sparkly space pigeons or colorful caterpillars or a cardboard box that is secretly a rocket ship. At this young age, kids regularly use their Creativity to entertain themselves (and us!) with all the wacky and wonderful ways they view the world. Let's make sure they never lose that curiosity! It is that same imagination that makes a sandbox into the moon that is capable of imagining the world's problems as opportunities for new, bold, innovative solutions. This month, we will be talking about and practicing solving problems, working in teams, and dreaming up new perspectives! The only way we change the negative normals in our world is to have the Courage and Creativity to think different!

What's Happening In Music

This past few weeks in Music class, students in 2nd-4th grade have been learning how to play Boomwackers. These colorful tubes are of varying lengths, which creates the difference in pitches. Students really enjoyed learning and playing along to popular music- songs from the movie Encanto, and Count on Me, by Bruno Mars. Pictured are students from Duda, Thacker, and Temcov's classes.

Bike/Walk to School Celebration of Military Child

May is national high blood pressure education month and this is a good article about high pressure in children:

Creative Play In Kindergarten

Mrs. Hunter's class wore red for Autism Acceptance Day. They had some great creative play happening during their free choice playtime. Teamwork to build a giant Magna Tile structure. Creative dress up with a ribbon belt and scarves. Pretending to take some stuffed animal friends for a walk. We can't wait to see what other fun playtimes they come up with.

Importance of this form

For the 2021-22 school year, all the meals for the students will be free again thanks to the USDA. However, we strongly encourage all parents to submit a Free and Reduced Lunch Form. Filling out a meal application may help provide many resources for your student and their school. In addition, eligible families who fill out the form before August 31 may qualify for P-EBT benefits. You may pick up an application at any school or the district office. Electronic forms are available on our website or by accessing the Food Service tab in Skyward Family Access. It's critical our families complete this step. Much of our school's funding is tied around our free or reduced meal percentage. Please take a few minutes to fill out the form and see if you qualify. Families who do qualify may be eligible for additional federal benefits later this year. Please contact us if you have any questions.
