Coral reefs are usually found in shallow warm water at a depth less than 150 feet. The coral reef is the rain forest of the ocean. coral reefs are biodiversity hot spots that make up less than 1 percent of the marine environment are home to marine life.

- Coral reefs are extremely vulnerable to warm water temperatures. Due to Coral reefs vulnerability to temperature change, when water temperature rises it leaves large areas of dead and bleached coral reefs.
- Coral reefs are used to help cure diseases like AIDS,cancer and other diseases.
A recent report revealed that coral coverage on the Great Barrier Reef has declined by as much as 50% in the last three decades, while reefs in the Caribbean have seen reported losses of 80%.
