A message from Mr. David Jennings, Principal
To our Maize Central Elementary Families:
During this Thanksgiving season, we have a lot to be thankful for! I’m so thankful for our fantastic staff at MCE and all the effort they are putting into giving our students the best learning experience. They spend many hours preparing for each week, and I want to personally thank them for their service to our students. I'd also like to thank all of the families working diligently to make sure their student is able to be in school and participate with their classmates. I know it is incredibly challenging to find a balance during this time of year, but I want to encourage you to keep working with us. Lastly, I am so proud of and thankful for our students. This year has also been a big adjustment for them as well. Just remember to talk to them and encourage them to share their feelings with you.
We would like to thank all the MCE students and families who supported our recent fundraiser. We appreciate all of you who reached out to friends and family who donated!
Thank you for all of your support to help make MCE a great place for everyone!

Capturing Kids' Hearts & Social Emotional Learning
Capturing Kids' Hearts & Social Emotional Learning
Each day, as part of our Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, students are encouraged to share good things with their classmates and teacher. These “good things” can be as small as, “I woke up on time!” to as big as, “I am going to Disney World next week!” Each child is celebrated and given a turn to share throughout the week. Teachers also take their turn in sharing good things about themselves. Sharing these small snippets helps the students start each day positively and feel valued by their peers. Additionally, sharing good things helps the teachers increase positive interactions with students and create positive relationships within the class. Good things can easily carry over into conversation at home or in the car. Ask your child to lead a family discussion at dinner or before bed, or ask him/her what good things were shared in class each day. Focusing on the positive and celebrating what is important in each child’s life is a small way to make a big, positive difference. Please click here for the CKH family newsletter over self-direction, sharing good things, and showing gratitude!
