NEWS FROM THE NURSES

As the cold and flu season sets in PLEASE remember to keep your children home from school if they have:

  • A fever (must stay home 24 hours from the last fever onset, without the use of fever-reducing medication)
  • Vomiting or diarrhea (If your student vomits while at school, we will ask for them to be picked up and remain home for 24 hours from their last vomiting episode)
  • Significant cough or congestion

Once cough and congestion symptoms have greatly improved your student may return to school. If they still have a mild cough please consider having them wear a mask to help prevent spreading germs to their classmates and teachers.

As a heads-up, we are seeing and getting reports of RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus), positive influenza tests, GI “bugs” (vomiting/diarrhea), and hand/foot/mouth disease (which typically starts as cough/cold/fever symptoms then develops into the rash).

Our health room recently has been overly busy! Please help us out by following these guidelines and keeping your children home when they are sick.

Lastly, keep in mind possible backup plans (emergency contacts) for picking up your student if they are asked to be sent home while in school.

If you have any questions please contact us at:
