Mr. Ryba Visits CMS Students

On Weds. March 16, Superintendent Mr. Ryba met with CMS students to get their perspective of what they like about their middle school experience and what changes could be made to make it better. Everything from teachers who care to programming that they would change, our students had lots to say. The students were not shy to share their opinions, for better or for worse, and was nice to hear how intelligently our students spoke of various topics. We truly have independent, confident young people in our building who are the future of Strongsville and beyond.

Believe in Ohio

Today, 10 teams of 8th graders competed in the Believe in Ohio Initiative, here in the CMS Media Center. Each group had four minutes to pitch their Commercialization Plan of a product / service that they either took part in creating or one in which they enhanced to make better. As a judge, they completely wow-ed me! Me and the other judges were impressed by their research, delivery and overall presentation. Winners, along with cash-prizes, will be announced after Spring Break. Well-done, everyone!!!

Mustang Mentors

The Mustang Mentors came down from the high school for their third visit this school year. Their message was "Who Are You?". They discussed the different roles teens play in various social situations. The conversations were meaningful and students were once again, engaged. The high school students thought our CMS students were interactive and had some insightful comments.

Mentors spread some positive messages on students' lockers before they left.

Construction Update

Strongsville Middle School is coming along quite well. I was just in there on Wednesday taking some pics and the progress is tremendous. Many rooms are painted and nearly completed. In only five (that's right... 5!!!) short months, that building is going to be teeming with energy and excitement! Check out the pics below.

Student Spotlight

Julia Hogg, a 7th grade Star team member, is our newest Student Spotlight. Julia is active in a number of sports, but her favorite is soccer. Julia is a Center-Midfielder for Cleveland Whitecaps Soccer, and her favorite soccer player is US Soccer Star and fellow midfielder, Carli Lloyd. Julia also plays volleyball and runs track for CMS, and is a member of our Morning Announcement Crew. An Honor Roll student, Julia's favorite class here at Center is Social Studies because she just loves History. When asked what she enjoys most about Center, Julia really appreciates the many opportunities that students have to explore in their classes. After Julia's career in Strongsville is over, Julia hopes to attend the University of Notre Dame and study Civil Engineering. Maybe some day we'll see Julia score her own hat trick in the World Cup final! The sky's the limit.

Sorry... I couldn't get the picture any bigger!
