Presidents Day Quiz
Monday, February 20th was Presidents' Day which honors all of our chief executives since 1789. It became an official holiday in 1879 and coincides with Washington's birthday. Here are ten trivia questions about some of our 46 presidents. Test your knowledge about these key leaders. Answers can be found at the end of the update.

Massena Boys Indoor Track Earn Section X Title
Congratulations to the Boys Indoor Track Team for their first place finish in the Section X championship meet at St. Lawrence University on February 16th. The Boys team finished with 104.2 points ahead of Franklin Academy with 89, and Canton with 79.4. The Boys 4x200 Meter Relay Team of Eligha Acevedo, Aaron Binion, Jacob, Binion, and Wyatt Monroe once again led the way finishing first in their meet. Other first place finishers for Massena included Wyatt Monroe in the Long Jump, Aaron Binion in the Triple Jump, and Kristen Oliver in the Shot Put. Congratulations to Coach Tom Oldenburg and his team for this remarkable accomplishment.

Massena Boys Basketball Team Win Section X Title
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball Team for their exciting victory over Franklin Academy on Monday night to capture the Section X title. Massena pulled off a 44-41 thriller at Maxcy Hall in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd. Best of luck to Coach Brandon Downs and the team as they move on to the Section X Overall championship and state play.

Massena Staff Attend Diversity Equity and Inclusion Training
On February 10th, a half day staff development training took place in the District, This training included an introduction to the Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education (CRSE) Framework with Desi Backus, Regional Coordinator of Diversity Equity and Inclusion. The (CRSE) Framework, as developed by the NYS Education Department, promotes a school environment that is welcoming and attends to the diverse needs of our student population. Thanks to Director of Curriculum Nicole Charleson for organizing this opportunity.

Class of 2025 Ski/Snowshoe 5K Event
The Class of 2025 held a Ski/Snowshoe 5K run at the Nicandri Nature Center on February 18th. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the Class of 2025. Over 30 people participated in the event including student volunteers. Everyone got a free t-shirt and they held a giveaway at the end. Thanks to Class Advisor Linda Freiman for organizing the event and the Nicandri Nature Center for hosting.
