A Message from Mr. H.
We LOVE to celebrate students here at Moreau Hall! Each month we have a chance to honor one student from each classroom as a Hawk of the Month. The program originally began in January of 2015 and was the combined effort of our School Council and our student body. Our Core Values were created, most importantly, with student input about what it means to be a Moreau Hall Hawk. Over the years, our teachers have included our values in their daily teaching and a few have taken it upon themselves to directly teach lessons around specific values. Last Wednesday, I had the chance to share our students' success with their parents, grandparents, and special friends. This batch of Hawks was selected because of their involvement in our school community. This is not an academic award, but one that promotes good citizenship. We are not asking our students to be perfect. We all have goals and things we are trying to improve, and so we expect our students and staff to give their best effort each day. The best part of each celebration is when the parents take pictures of their Hawks with their certificates. Pride in their children shines from their faces. It is truly a special moment. Here's to many more special moments here at Moreau Hall!
Mr. H.

Mr. Dennison's Music Notes
In February, Kindergarten music classes learned the Ladder Song, which is a simple song that climbs up and down the musical scale. K students also had their first chance to play a mallet instrument - the xylophone/glockenspiel. 1st grade music classes also played this instrument with the winter song Frosty Weather. By the end of the month, we changed the words to ‘Sunny weather’ and ‘Rainy weather’! 2nd grade music classes are practicing the three rhythms they have learned - ta, titi, and “rest”. These correspond to quarter note, eighth notes, and a quarter rest. These are some of the building blocks to beginning the recorder next year in third grade, along with general music literacy.
Thanks for reading!

Reading Incentive - Just Imagine... If Reading Was Your Super Power!
Our annual Reading Incentive Program began this week and it’s shaping up to be a huge success! Last year, the students of Moreau Hall read an unbelievable amount of minutes. Students in 12 classrooms read over 100,000 minutes! I wonder if we can top that number this year?!?!
Thanks to all of the parents/guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members who have volunteered to be our “mystery readers” during the month. Thanks to our Parent Advisory Council and Reading Incentive planning committee for all the hard work of getting this beloved event off the ground. Events like these don’t happen without the wonderful support of our parent community. We couldn’t have done it without you!
