Book Fair time!!
Oh, the glory days of elementary and middle school book fairs. I remember it like it was yesterday... Coming home with the new Babysitters Club book, and with a poster of a kitten tangled in ballet slippers made life feel so grand. Good times.
Time have changed very little since WAAAYY back then, and really, the only difference is that you can now load money onto a VIRTUAL wallet. This means, no more sending cash and your child loosing the cash. No more leaving work to bring in MORE cash cause they want THREE books, and are short by $2.00. No more frustrations when the change is spent on extra chips at lunch, and not brought home. Not that this all happens (or to me, specifically...)... but the virtual wallet makes it all better!!
Click HERE to go to the Scholastic website. You can load any amount on the virtual wallet. SO. MUCH. EASIER.
Click HERE to sign up to volunteer at the book fair! Or as I like to call it- Embarrass my child for free in front of their whole class time!
The automatic grace period for Meal Assistance from last year's approvals is officially OVER. If you would like to apply for Free or Reduced price meals, please click HERE. Remember, you are responsible for any and all food charges after the grace period has ended, until you are approved again.
Cell Phones... Can you hear me now?
Did you just picture the old verizon commercial in your head- cause I totally did.
There have been quite a few issues with students having their cell phones out in class, and using them at recess, and even making TikTok videos in the bathroom. Yep. Please take a moment to remind your students that cell phones need to be on SILENT and in a backpack if they come to school. The district policy says that the phones need to be powered off and in backpacks, but we will allow them to be on if they are on SILENT. Harmon is just cool like that.
Parents- please do NOT call your child during the school day, or text them and ask them to call you. This is a HUGE distraction for not only your child, but for the entire classroom. If you need to get in touch with your child in an emergency- please contact the school office.
Remember, we all made it through the 80's, 90's and early 2000's without a cell phone. So can your child.
Hello Harmon families! The month of October is a busy month! Students will be completing a Panorama survey to provide us social emotional information. I will be visiting each classroom/team to complete our monthly guidance lesson. This month your student will either partake in a lesson about bullying or how to fight negative self talk. Gifted testing which was previously scheduled to take place in October will not be moved to spring. There will be more information to come! Information regarding holiday assistance will also be coming out soon so please be on the lookout for that!
