Chat with Ms. Cat
Hello Calais Cougars!
Our staff has been working hard on finalizing grades for report cards. This year you will notice a few changes in your student's report card. We have expanded our reporting in literacy in order to provide families with more information about how students are doing relative to our expectations in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We hope that these changes provide a more detailed picture of students' current performance and reflect the emphasis that we place on literacy during the elementary years.
We also revised the format of the report card so that our teachers' comments are more prominent. Our teachers spend a lot of time thoughtfully writing comments for each student, and we want to make sure that they are evident to families.
We generate our report cards through Infinite Campus, our student information system. We wish that we could enlarge the font and make some other formatting changes, but we are currently unable to do so.
We continuously examine our practices related to teaching and learning, and communicating with students and families about student performance is one aspect of this practice. The school climate survey contains some questions about the report card. We welcome your feedback and will use it to inform our future work. Click here for a link to the climate survey.
For your convenience, the WCUUSD Guide to the Elementary Report Card is linked here.
With semester one coming to a close, parents and guardians will see report cards mailed home today. Please check in with your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions about the progress your child is making.

The Calais Smurf Cat
Mrs. Jackson's 3rd and 4th grade class had the opportunity to name a snow plow for the Town of Calais! They chose "The Calais Smurf Cat" because smurf's are blue and they work really hard, and our mascot is a cat. :)
