A note from Dr. Miles
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
What a weekend to enjoy the coolness of fall by getting yard work completed and beginning to frame plans for the upcoming holidays. This week, on Wednesday, I look forward to being pied, I hope you were able to get your can foods in to get your name in the raffle. Last year 1,700 cans were donated school wide. I hope we are able to do more for our community this year. Let go for 2,000 non-perishable items to donate. Students name will be added to the raffle to throw at pie for every item they donate.
Today is World Kindness day. I encourage you to perform an intentional act of kindness for someone, and even better explain this day to your child and share how being kind can be beneficial to them. Here are some examples of intentional acts of kindness to start you off:
Thank a school employee
Celebrate someone you love
Donate your time
Give compliments
Help your parents with household chores
Hold the door for someone
Send a letter to a grandparent
Take cookies to a neighbor
LEXIA and IXL: We are highly interested in the success of your child in every aspect of who they are. Academically, Lexia (Reading) and IXL (Math) are two supplemental academic interventions that have shown great results. Our students are successful, in large part, when they engage with the programs consistently. Here's where we need your help:
Make sure that they bring their computer home everyday and spend at least 20 minutes on the programs. The more they are engaged in the programs, the better they will grow and meet their goals.
If your child is not able to bring their computer home due to the insurance fee, please be sure to check and see if you qualify for a FEE WAIVER. If you qualify, you will not have to pay the $40 fee for insurance. Please contact the school secretary wattsa@casdschools.org if your child still has not brought a computer home.
Thank you for all your continued support!
Kind regards,
Dr. Miles
KH's New Restorative Coach
In 2023, I decided to further my education once again to become a Licensed Behavioral Consultant. Now, I enjoy working with children and helping them sort through problems in any way I can. I am extremely family oriented, so that is how I spend most of my free time.
In my free time, I love karaoke, thrill adventures, spa days, museums, and eating. I am extremely excited to be apart of the family here at King's Highway and look forward to working with everyone.

Volunteers Needed!
There are many opportunities for volunteering at our school. Please complete the form below if you are interested in volunteering at King's Highway Elementary School. Here are some of the ways you can help:
Recess: Recess volunteers assist students during recess.
Cafeteria: Cafeteria volunteers assist students with getting their lunches, opening containers, dispensing utensils and napkins, etc.
Reading: Some students, especially in K-2, may need extra literacy reinforcement. As a volunteer you may be able to assist students in letter/sound naming, decoding, etc. This may be more intensive.
All volunteers must have the proper clearances on file in the main office. You can email your clearances to milesb@casdschools.org or send the forms to school with your student. See the pdf below for information regarding clearances.
Thank you for supporting King's Highway Elementary School!
