Early Pick-up Next Week
BASRP will still offer daycare starting at 12:10pm-6:00 pm during conference week. There are daycare contracts in the office for your convenience.
Two New Classrooms
Preparation for the addition of two new classrooms began at Forest Grove over the October Break.
Our new classrooms will be placed near the kindergarten center - one of the classrooms (E-5 below) will house the transitional kindergarten class, and the other room (E-6) will be home to our music program.
This transition will open up room K-3 for our fourth kindergarten class which is currently being taught in room G-5.
Another benefit to this new construction is that our reading intervention program will be able to return to room G-5 after temporarily being taught out of the Before and After School Recreation Program room.
If all goes according to plan, both of the new classes and all of the moves will be completed when we return from Winter Break.
The project began over Fall Break with the necessary tree removal to clear room for the classrooms. We plan on planting replacement trees in the forest as we are sensitive to maintaining our forest setting.
We also had to remove the benches that provided an outdoor instructional space. As part of this project, we will reconstruct this outdoor instructional setting near its former location.
Temporary fencing will be installed to keep our students separated from the construction site.
School construction always brings along with it noise and a mess, but the long term advantage of having more instructional space will far outweigh this temporary inconvenience.
It’s getting scary in a very good way at Forest Grove!
We have some fun activities planned to help our students and families break out their costumes to celebrate Halloween.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, we will have a school wide Halloween parade at Breaker Stadium beginning at 9 a.m. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to see all of the costumes students wear to school on Halloween.
Please follow these guidelines when dressing your child up for Halloween: All weapons, swords, knives, etc. need to be left at home. Students cannot wear masks or excessive face paint that prevent us from recognizing the student. Costume props can be carried in the parade but after they will need to be left in the classroom.
We hope you will be able to join us for these delightful celebrations of Halloween.

Keeping Traffic Moving Safely
Here are a few reminders to keep traffic moving safely when dropping off or picking up your students from school.
Pull as far forward as you can in the green drop off zone.
Never leave your car while dropping off or picking up your student.
If you want to walk on campus to drop off or pick up your student, please park in one of the parking spaces in front of school or in the parking lot that you can enter off of Forest Lodge Road in back of school.
Do not allow your student to leave or enter the car until you are curbside. The most dangerous situation is a child dashing past cars that are double parked.
With your cooperation, we will keep our students safe and have the most efficient drop
off, pick up zone possible.
Thank you!
Drop Off, Pick Up Help Needed
The mere presence of an adult at the front of our school improves traffic flow before and after school.
Although Mr. Roggeman and Mrs. Marchese have been helping to direct traffic at these times, they are not able to be out front every day.
To help traffic flow smoothly during these busy times of the day, we are looking for parent volunteers who are willing to assist with this process.
We will train you, give you a yellow jacket, and shower you with appreciation if you step forward to help keep our families safe in this important way.
If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Principal Buck Roggeman at broggeman@pgusd.org or 646-6560 ext. 200.

A Reminder about Library Books!
"When you take the books with you they are on vacation from the library and need to sleep in the 'HOTEL'. The hotel is their backpacks! This way they do not get lost on a shelf or under the bed."
Please remind you child to have their library books "sleep in the hotel" when they have books at home. Thank you for your support.
