Earth Day History
Earth day was started by Gaylord Nelson on April 22nd. Gaylord Nelson realized that not much people were concern about the earth and everything on it as he did. He decided to head to president Kennedy who agreed with him, but did nothing about it. Gaylord Nelson did not give up. On April 22nd, 1970, Nelson decided to make demonstrations on environmental issues. More than 20 million demonstrators, local communities, and thousands of schools participated in the demonstrations.
