The Middle School Trip to Washington D.C.
The middle school trip is an every year occurrence. This year the trip was to Washington D.C. The drive there and back was 28 hours in total; the drive was very scenic and fun. Along the way, they stopped in North Carolina and ate McDonald's. The next stop was in Virginia where they ate Golden Coral. Next, they arrived at their hotel at around 8:00 pm at night to settle in for the next couple of days.
The next day they woke up at 5:30 am to get ready to go to the Arlington Cemetery. The Arlington Cemetery is where all the soldiers that died in the war were buried. After the cemetery, they went and saw the Tomb of Unknown Soldier. After that, they went to John F. Kennedy’s memorial. Then, they saw the switching of the guards.
After the Arlington cemetery, they went to the Air and Space Museum. There they got to see great exhibits about our nation's air and space explorers. The National History Museum is where they learned about gems, crystals, and butterflies. Next, they had to choose who got to go to the Holocaust Museum. If you didn’t attend the Holocaust Museum, you went to the History Museum.
The Lincoln Memorial was next as well as Martin Luther King, Franklin Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson. This was part of the Illuminated tour. The Martin Luther King Statue was 18 feet tall. Next, was The Vietnam War Memorial. There they learned about the 21 reflections. After that they went back to the hotel to sleep.
The next day was the Capitol Building, the 9-11 Memorial, the Pentagon, and the Supreme Court. At the Capitol Building, they got to look at the architecture and art. At the Supreme Court, they got to take pictures of a guy busting his head open. Union Station was next on the list where they got to shop and eat dinner. After that, they visited the U.S. Postal Museum where they got to see how the mail system works and send a post card home to their family. At the Pentagon, they saw the memorial and learned about the benches and the deaths that occurred.
Next, they started their journey home, which took 14 hours. They arrived at the school at around 7:00 pm. On the way home, they went to the same places, except this time, they also stopped at Starbucks. When they arrived at the school, their parents were happy to see them. Finally, everyone went home to go to sleep!

“God is greater than ‘it’, has purpose for ‘it’, control over ‘it’, has defeated ‘it’, and will use ‘it’. Whatever your ‘it’ might be, know that He’s got it.”
Instead of a Bible verse this month, a Tweet was much more fitting. Everyone has an ‘it’. People who are not Christians even have an ‘it’. Possible examples could be fear, anxiety, frustration, a toxic relationship, or a bad habit. The most important thing to realize in a situation like this is that God wants to carry the load for you. He does not expect us to handle ever battle thrown our way by ourselves.
This has been one of the most difficult things I have had to realize. It is also something we must all be aware of. God has every ‘it’ we could ever have completely under control. Also, this is not taking place for no reason. Every single thing God does He has purpose for doing it. Most of all, He has defeated your ‘it’. The fight Jesus went through did not end on the cross; everyday He is fighting the battles we can no longer handle. Whatever your ‘it’ might be, God’s got it.

Rock Eagle Field Trip
The 5th grade class goes on a 4-H trip to Rock Eagle every year. The Rock Eagle trip is an overnight trip that includes canoeing, watching movies, and much more. Maggie, Brody, and Boone said canoeing and the maze were their favorite things to do. They all agreed that if they could do anything again, they would canoe. They all said the most fun thing was to jump off beds and run across the field screaming.
Maggie, Boone, and Brody agreed that the night hike was the most exciting thing they did. They also agreed that the best food at Rock Eagle was the chicken tenders. These 5th graders clearly enjoyed Rock Eagle. Rock Eagle is supposed to be fun, exciting, and safe place. I hope the tradition of going to Rock Eagle continues because when I was in 5th grade we had a fun time.
