Questions You Could Ask:
There’s a t-shirt that reads, “Be Kind to Everyone.” Do you agree or disagree with this idea?
In our family, give examples of how we show Kindness to others? How can we bring even more Kindness into our home?
When are times that it’s difficult for you to show Kindness? What clues do your mind or body give you that you’re having a hard time practicing Kindness? What helps you practice Kindness even if it’s difficult?
Grade 1
First graders enjoyed celebrating the 100th day of school with many fun activities. The children loved visiting the Bookfair. Thank you to the PTA for all your hard work to make this happen! They are very excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We would like to thank all the parents for a great turn out at Parent and Teacher conferences. We wish everyone a wonderful winter break!
Grade 2
It has been a great week in Second grade! Our students participated in many activities involving the number 100! Some classes drew a picture of what they would look like at 100 years old, others wrote about what they would do with a hundred dollar bill, and others wrote about how much smarter they are after 100 days! The second grade teaching team had some fun as well! We are enjoying our time in Australia, and learning a lot about landforms. In Reading, we are continuing to learn about Customs andTraditions. After the break, we will be sending home information about our Ancestor Family poster. We celebrated Valentine’s Day by making cards and posters for our Town’s First Responders, as well as sharing with our classmates. In math, we are learning about time and money!
Have an awesome winter break!
Grade 3
Rain, rain go away! This gray and rainy week has resulted in several days of indoor recess. While not our first choice, indoor recess provides a time for students to work on valuable cooperation and communication skills. Students play board games, draw together, have free discussions, and some choose to read or write! Elementary school is a time for academic learning, but it is also a time to develop social skills and friendships.
Grade 4
We enjoyed our rescheduled visit by author, Susan E. Goodman, on Thursday. She shared photos and anecdotes of adventures and research she has participated in that lead to her writing of nonfiction books we have enjoyed, such as On This Spot, The First Step, and How to Burp in Space. Teachers had the opportunity to review student progress during Parent/Teacher conferences this week. Students celebrated Valentine’s Day on Friday by exchanging Valentine Cards with their classmates. We hope everyone enjoys February vacation and comes back ready to learn!
Grade 5
The few days before the February break have the fifth grade classes busy with wrapping up projects and learning activities. All classes visited the Book Fair to find some enticing vacation reading. Mrs. Marinelli's class played math games and rotated through Math Learning Centers to reinforce and practice important Math skills using decimals, coordinate plane graphing, and problem solving skills. Many students are choosing to compose a variety of written pieces on the theme of "kindness', which is our Character Strong word of the month. The bulletin board in the 5th grade hallway now has a reading challenge posted. Let's see who can read their way through the alphabet.
