Pastor Mary Beth’s Musings
If I told you my story
You would hear hope that wouldn't let go
If I told you my story
You would hear love that never gave up
If I told you my story
You would hear life but it wasn't mine
(from My Story, lyrics by Mike Weaver and Jason Ingram)
We all have a story to tell. As Jesus Followers, we are people of The Story, The Story of Salvation by faith through Jesus Christ. The writer of the Gospel of Mark tells that story through an intense, fast-moving tale of Jesus’ time on earth. This Sunday, as we continue our series, The Radical Sayings of Jesus, we’ll look at a moment that is a major shift in the story as Jesus turns his face toward Jerusalem and begins to talk about what it really looks like to be a Jesus Follower. It’s a moment when Jesus invites everyone who is listening to enter into God’s story, to make God’s story our story.
We all have a story to tell and lately I’ve been hearing some beautiful stories of how the people of VRUMC #giveradically. We’ll take time in worship this Sunday for those stories to be shared. If you know you want to tell your story and have a photo of what you did, please email me, marybeth@vrumc.org, so we can show your picture as you share your story this Sunday.
I’m praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.
Glory to God!
Pastor Mary Beth
Communion Offering for Ecuador Earthquake Recovery
Our communion offering on Sunday will support United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to provide earthquake victims in Ecuador with food and water. Each family food kit contains a one-month supply of items that include rice, pasta, beans, cornmeal, tuna, powdered milk, and other basics. The April 16 disaster killed more than 650 people, injured a further 16,600, and displaced more than 29,000 from their homes. Place your offering at the altar during communion. Indicate UMCOR in the memo line of any check donations. Make electronic donations at https://cuffr.me/vrumc.

Canned Meat Goal Met for Church Anniversary
Thanks to your generosity in celebration of our 24th church anniversary, we were able to deliver 2,421 canned meat items to the CCA Food Pantry! While this was a special goal of 2,400 items for our 24th anniversary, our church supports filling the canned meat shelves year-round. We typically publicize bringing canned meat to church on the second Sunday of each month, but items are accepted in the grocery cart weekly. These donations help feed the 600-plus families in our neighborhoods who depend on the CCA Food Pantry for assistance. This is just one way that Vista Ridge is building life-giving relationships with our community!
