Good evening, Dragons!
We hope your students had a wonderful first week. We had a blast welcoming everyone to their school home.

The newsletter is organized as such: events this week/need to knows, highlights from the prior week, educational links for your family and future events/reminders heading your way.
Gospel Reading
Each Sunday, I will bring in reflections and wisdom from Mass re: the weekly readings to share with your family. You can always visit Loyola Press' Sunday Connection for relatable analysis to connect weekly scripture to daily life.
In today's Gospel, Jesus reminds his followers to be prepared for difficult decisions and conflict.
"Jesus said to his disciples:
"I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division. "
Luke 12: 49-53
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
These words are hard to hear from Jesus and not what we usually encounter. However, we are reminded that the decision to do the right thing is not always without conflict. Jesus warned in last Sunday's Gospel, a commitment of faith requires us to change our attitude toward material possessions and to take even more seriously our moral responsibilities. Here he reminds us that those who commit to him will find it affects the way they relate to friends and family members. How can we support our students to know that sometimes making the right decision will cause us to lose friends or popularity? How do we keep our families firmly rooted in Christ so that when conflict arises, we chose what's best for our moral grounding?
Thank you, Dragons for a beautiful first week. Blessings to you as we start week 2!
