Supporting Students' Self-Care
Kids For Peace - Engage in activities that promote gratitude and a loving community spirit!
If your family is anything like mine, 'shelter-in-place fatigue' (I'm not sure that is a 'thing', but that's what I'm calling it) is settling in this week. I hope you find solace in knowing we are in this together, and will get through it as a community. Please take care of you, and continue to take care of each other!
Although what school will look like in August is still unknown at this time, we are still moving forward with our planning for the 2020-2021 school year. In preparation, we are asking our Kindergarten-4th grade families to complete the following survey. Please take a minute (or less) to click on the following link and let us know if you are planning for your child(ren) to return to Westwood: Intent to Return Survey. Responses are due by Sunday, May 3rd! Thank you in advance! Parents may also access our Student Information Form on our school website to describe what type of classroom environment will help your child thrive at Westwood! These forms are due no later than Tuesday, May 12th.

Distance Learning & Grading Information
As we move forward in continuing to support student learning during the school closure, teachers will be focused on narrowing the scope of instruction through offering lessons/activities targeting these high-leverage standards:
Elementary Essential Standards (TK-2)Elementary Essential Standards (3-5)
These standards were selected from previously existing prioritized standards and were selected to support teachers developing instruction based on what students need to know by the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
In order to follow 'hold harmless' guidelines directed by the state's Department of Education, MDUSD elementary teachers will provide a standards-based 1, 2, or 3 rating. In cases where a rating cannot be determined, a "Not Assessed" or "NA" will be given. It is expected that most students will receive mostly, if not all, NAs for the 3rd trimester for any standard that was not fully assessed in the 1st or 2nd trimesters.
