The Advent Season
Hello Students & Parents of our great Youth Ministry at Most Blessed Sacrament Church,
Sunday marked the first day of Advent, and I came across a really cool and informative video on what Advent really means to the Catholic faith. I wanted to share this, because, as a cradle-Catholic, it was years before I actually understood what Advent meant and why it was important. Well, this short video explains it in two minutes, and it is done in a very fun and entertaining way.
Below is a write up from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops that goes into greater detail as to the importance and significance of Advent within our Catholic faith.

Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas.
The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas).
