Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, families!! Were you able to come to our diversity parades today?! I sure hope so. It was amazing! So many children were dressed in their traditional attire to represent their family heritage. It is always one of my most favorite events of the year. I love learning more about your children and your families!
Our annual Multicultural Night is coming up Tuesday, December 12th from 5:30-6:30! Bring yourself, your family and your culture to the 6th Annual Multicultural Night at the ECS and go around the world in 60 minutes!! This is a great time to celebrate and share the diversity we are so proud to have in our school. There will be food, music, photo booth, fashion show and many other fun activities. We have many flags on both sides of the building. If you do not see your country represented at all, please let your teacher know and we will do our best to get those added!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we see you all Tuesday night!

We Want You!
We are hoping to have some parents volunteer about 20 minutes of their time to help us at our two arrival times each day. Having the extra hands to open doors and helps students out of the cars would definitely speed up our carpool lanes!
If you would consider helping us out, just click this link. It will take you to a Google Form with all the details and you can submit your interest. Thank you for considering!
Party Information!!
For our upcoming parties on Friday, December 15th, your ID needs to be attached to our campus in order to identify you as a campus parent. If the front office staff has not already scanned your Driver’s License, State ID Card or Passport, please take a moment and stop by the office BEFORE WEDNESDAY, December 13th with your ID so that we may get your ID into our Visitor Management System.
When attending your child’s class party, you will enter the doors to the right of the main entrance and enter the cafeteria. Please remember to bring your ID in order to receive your visitor badge. If other family members wish to attend they need to bring their photo ID with them. There will be a station available to scan IDs ONLY. Visitors with passports that have not been previously entered into our system will need to report to the office for a Visitor Pass.
Please bring in your child’s Car Hang Tag (Purple Placard) if you are planning to take your child home at the end of the party. You will need to sign your child out from the classroom on the teacher’s log sheet. You must also show the Hang Tag to the Monitor at the exits in order to confirm that the child may go home with you. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE WITH YOU IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE CAR HANG TAG!
I Want to Hear From You!!
Many of you have posted comments, suggestions or questions on my Parent Padlet. Thank you! It is one of the ways for me to stay connected with you and allows other parents to see your questions. You never know when someone else is wondering the same thing. The cool thing is that it is completely anonymous! So post away and I will be sure to respond.

There is something that happens naturally with all of our children that helps develop creativity, emotional health, physical strength, and cognitive ability. It also reduces stresses and the risk of obesity. It is something that grown-ups do not have to teach or plan or organize because it is organic for all children. It’s play.
Play is the way children begin to interact in the world. Through imaginary play children are able to create the world they observe and experience. They are the center of this imaginary world and make it to fit their personal needs. Through play, children can conquer fears; build problem solving skills, and confidence. Unlike organized sports, play allows for children to freely use their imagination to interact with others and build healthy emotional development.
You can promote more child driven play in your home with the following ideas: provide “true toys” like dolls and blocks, reduce screen time, and provide time for interaction and play with others. You will want to avoid the unnecessary pressure to sign your child up for too many organized sports or academic activities. It is equally important to reduce screen time, and if you choose to explore an academic or special program, research the long term benefits. Although finding the right balance between spontaneous play and organized activities is not easy, research suggests that only child centered play will benefit children in the long run and bring joy.
Child centered play is necessary for social and emotional learning. I would like to encourage you to observe your child(ren) at play and join in the fun. It’s an opportunity to see their view of the world. Once our children reach adolescence, they will begin to lose interest. When a parent spends time fully engaged in the child’s world of play, it helps build a strong bond.
