Dear Jackson Families,
Fourth quarter is almost here! We are looking forward to a great spring with our jaguars and Jackson families.
Conferences are March 2 or 3. Our goal is 100% attendance for student-led conferences. Be sure you have signed up for a time. Call the office if you need assistance. You may choose to come in-person or meet with the teachers online on your child's iPad through Team. During the first 10 minutes of the conference, your child will share their learning with you. This portion will be student-led in one classroom or in your home. Then you will be able to meet with the English and Spanish teacher for the last 10 minutes in the other classroom or online. You will also receive your child's MAP results. We look forward to partnering with you during conferences. Report cards will go home on March 11.
Spring Break is March 14 - 18. Please encourage your child to read each day. We encourage them to also complete 30 minutes of learning on their digital resources each day (Amira/Lexia, iRead/MAP Accelerator, or Zearn)
State Tests (NSCAS) in grades 3-6 will begin at the end of March and through April. Students will participate in NCSAS English Language Arts and Math. Fifth grade students will also take a science test. Please encourage your child to do their best on these assessments. Teachers will communicate testing dates. Please make sure your child is in attendance, is well-rested, and has a nutritious breakfast. Your words of encouragement will help your students focus and do their best.
Health and safety is still our focus. Do not send your child to school if they are sick. Face coverings are now optional in OPS buildings. Please communicate with classroom teachers if they should encourage your child to continue to wear their face covering in school.
Be sure your student dresses for the weather. We go outside for recess everyday unless it is raining, snowing, high winds, or feels like 20 degrees or colder.
As snow and colder weather arrives, please be patient with our arrival and dismissal procedures. Do not pull into the bus-only area if the cones are reserving the south part of the bus lane.

Health and Safety
As of Feb. 25, 2022, face coverings are optional when inside our school. Any student, staff member or visitor is welcome to continue wearing a face covering inside our school. We care deeply about our students, staff and families.
Health and safety remain our priority, with many layers of precautions in place:
- We recommend a COVID-19 vaccine and booster for all eligible individuals (upcoming clinic information is available here)
- Enhanced disinfecting procedures
- Making sure people who feel ill stay home
- Continued isolation guidelines following a COVID-19 diagnosis
- Communication with our school when someone was COVID-positive while on campus

Interested in Volunteering?
Please use link to complete the volunteer application:
All adults who wish to volunteer on a school campus or chaperone day field trips, and district sponsored activity with students need to complete the application BEFORE volunteering with students or in the building. The required Volunteer Application allows the District and the schools to provide the appropriate level of clearance for school volunteers, protecting our students. Level 3 volunteering requires a background check. We ask that all volunteers are vaccinated and wear a mask in the building. Please contact Mrs. Hagen to let us know what level of volunteering you are requesting.
