Early College High School News

Overview

The Early College High School program at Austin High School includes three options. Students can earn an associate degree in general studies from Ivy Tech via our Academy program, the Statewide Transfer General Education Core (STGEC), or technical certificates of 15+ dual credit hours.

Class of 2018 Data

Austin HS has 22 students on track to earn an associate degree in May 2018.

We have 1 student who is working toward the STGEC.

2 of our seniors are completing programs at Prosser that will result in 15+ dual credits.

In addition, 7 seniors will have 15+ dual credits in welding by the end of this semester.


That's a total of 33.7% of our seniors who are part of ECHS!

Spring Academy Classes

The senior Academy students are currently taking Multicultural Studies on Tuesday afternoons, Fundamentals of Public Speaking on Wednesday or Friday afternoons, Geography on Thursday afternoons, and General Studies capstone as an online course.


The junior Academy students are currently taking Introduction to Sociology on Monday afternoons, Introduction to Psychology on Wednesday afternoons, and Survey of American History II on Thursday afternoons.

Spring Welding Classes

Our second year welding students are currently taking Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) Welding and Advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding II at Mid-America Science Park.


Our first year welding students are currently taking Shielded Metal Arc Welding II at Mid-America Science Park.

Spring Prosser Participation

We have seniors who will have 15+ dual credits in automotive technology and criminal justice via Prosser.


We have juniors who are on track to earn 15+ dual credits in criminal justice, fire and rescue/EMT, health science ed, and welding tech via Prosser.

This meeting is open to any parents who are interested in learning more about the Austin Academy, the Statewide Transfer General Education Core, our welding program, or a variety of qualifying programs offered at Prosser.
