The New Drive is Open!

Falcon Family-

Our new drive is finally finished! We will begin using the new drive on Monday, November 28th when we return from the Thanksgiving break. The purpose of the drive was to pull traffic off of Elkins Rd. The new drive should alleviate traffic on Elkins.

Last week I sent out a diagram that included the new traffic patterns. We would also like to share a video with you to better explain each route. I must warn you, the video is quite lengthy (approximately 15 minutes) but we feel it is vital that parents view it prior to the opening of the new drive to prepare for the transition. It contains key information to help keep students safe. I have also listed time markers of key points in the video in case you need to go back and view certain parts that pertain to your child without having to rewatch the entire video.

Student safety is primary! Please discuss the video with your child so they are aware of the new drop off and pickup procedures. Students will also view a presentation with their teachers tomorrow during Advisory. It is important that parents adhere to the new traffic patterns and not try to "cut corners" and use a different path. Please be a courteous and conscientious driver; we are all in a hurry and we all have places to go but it is important that we keep our students safe. The assigned routes were designed to keep students safe. Remember cell phone usage is prohibited in school zones and drop off and pick up zones. If you have any questions or have trouble viewing the video, please feel free to reach out.

We should take time to reflect on mental health, safety, and emotional well-being. Suicide Prevention Month is a time for us make an effort to reduce stigma and fear as well as discuss ways to gain support for yourself, a friend, or a family member.

A few signs that indicate you or someone you know may need help include feelings of sadness, hopeless, loneliness, and/ being worried or thinking about death or dying. Sometimes we may not be able to express how we feel yet our bodies will tell us by feeling tired, stomach pains, headaches, and loss of appetite. You can reach out to:

Nurse Notes from the FSMS Clinic

A Reminder from the FSMS Clinic

Parents- It is the time of year when we see more and more students getting ill. Please help us contain the germs by reminding your student about handwashing practices and covering their sneezes and coughs.

A gentle reminder that if you child has fever, they need to be fever free without medication for a full 24 hours before returning to school. Students can follow along with their work via Schoology, and they have one day for every day that they’re absent to make up their work. Let’s keep everyone healthy so that they can perform their best!

Thank you!

Bringing Medication to School

Reminder…Students are not allowed to carry medications at school with the exceptions of emergency medications (inhalers, Epipens and Insulin). All medication must be delivered to clinic by the parent or guardian, in the original container, with paperwork stating the full name of the student, the physician’s name, the name of the medication, the amount of medication to be given, when the medication is to be given, the length of time the medication is to be given, the reason the medication is to be given and your signature and date. Please reach out to Nurse Setera at 281-634-6505 or at jennifer.setera@fortbendisd.com with any additional questions or concerns.

Do you need to pick up your student early from school or change the way they are getting home?

Please be sure that all requests to pick up early or change the way they get home are submitted to the office before 3:30 pm. This allows enough time to communicate with teachers and your student about the change. No transportation changes will be made after this time. Please meet your child at their regular transportation drop off location.

Lunch and Forgotten Items Policy

At FSMS, protecting all students instructional time is our top priority. We use the grade level carts, located in the foyer of the front office, for parents to place forgotten items or for lunches that are dropped off. Everything must be on the cart before 11:15 am, since the carts are brought into the building for students to safely retrieve those items before heading to lunch. Items that are brought after that time will not be accepted.

Additionally, students that are assigned to lunch detention or in-school suspension will not have lunches or items delivered to them on that day.
