Our STEM-Research Fair (aka Science Fair) goes virtual! We have started planning on hosting a district virtual fair. ALL students are eligible to participate in the Fair. Teams with members of the same household will be allowed.


Timeline:

  • 2020 Sept - Nov: Students explore different project(s)/idea(s) & collaborate with teacher advisor. Potential mentors are identified and contacted.
  • 2020 Dec-Jan: Students work on their fair project (documenting the process)
  • 2021 February: Sweetwater STEM-R Fair

UCSD EDGE - Application due Sept. 27

Empowerment and Development for Girls in Engineering (EDGE) is a year long program catered to 9-12 graders interested in pursuing an engineering degree. Our mission is to encourage more high school girls to consider STEM related careers in order to bridge the gender gap in engineering fields.


This program will provide opportunities to network with undergraduate women in engineering and computer science fields at UCSD, as well as provide various workshops and events to foster interest in a wide variety of STEM fields. This program is available to 9th - 12th graders in high school. Learn More HERE

NACAC Virtual Fairs (October 12 and November 8) – NACAC is hosting virtual college fairs this fall to offer the opportunity to meet with college admission representatives and attend live and interactive Zoom sessions offered by 600+ colleges and universities on each fair date!

GREEN STEM Student Video Competition!

Work alone or gather a team of up to five students, then enter and share your insights on critical environmental issues through the Green STEM Video Competition. Video topics should focus on using STEM to solve important sustainability issues including climate change, natural resource conservation, recyclable materials, sustainable foods, Santa Clara River Watershed, biodiversity, water quality or another STEM-related topic. Check out the judge's Video Tips, and Rubric for guidance.

Deadline to submit video: October 16, 2020

SCEEC will categorize video submissions into each of the five STEM career pathway areas listed above, and prizes will be awarded in each area: (1st, 2nd and 3rd in each - 15 awards!)

The Energy Challenge is designed for 9-12 California high school students. Challenges range from personal energy audits to conservation campaigning. Participants will submit their work to earn points towards prizes!

We want to challenge you to look at your world with the eyes of an engineer and explore the inner-workings of an electronic device of your choice. Once you choose a product, you will deconstruct the device, catalog what you find inside, and then submit a final report with your findings on what you discovered.

"Thinking Outside The Box" Photography Challenge

Now that the COVID-19 pandemic is global and most of us are practicing social distancing to help flatten the curve, that leaves many of us with a lot of downtime, or finding unique ways to accomplish a goal.


With this challenge, you will not travel to far-off locations to find material worthy of a photo. We want you to submit a photo of something or someone in your everyday life that reminds you of your experience with VEX Robotics and why. Compose a photo that conveys an emotion, specifically the feeling you experience when you are reminded of the season’s before and what you love most.

In the Virtual Voyagers Design Mission, students will wrestle with a challenge that impacts their lives and their communities: Cybersecurity.
