Welcome Back SUHSD - 2021-2022

Welcome Back o School!

Sweetwater Union High School District is excited to welcome back students and families to full-time, in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year on July 21, 2021 ! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful summer.


SUHSD continues to monitor guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and will inform parents, students, staff and the community of changes in health and safety practices if / when guidance is changed in a manner that impacts the SUHSD community.

🎉 5th Annual Sweetwater Solar Sprint 🎉

2021 "5th" Annual Sweetwater Solar Sprint
On Saturday, May 22, middle school students from the following schools participated in our 2021 Sweetwater Solar Sprint; Castle Park Middle, Hilltop Middle, Mar Vista Academy, Montgomery Middle, Rancho del Rey Middle and Southwest Middle School.


Thank you Montgomery Middle School for hosting, Thank you to all teachers that coached our students, and THANK YOU to all students and parents that joined us on this event.

THANK YOU! 2021 Sweetwater Solar Sprint solar kits were sponsored by our partners from Baker-Electric. Additionally, we appreciate the leadership of Nicolas Segura, SUHSD School Board President and the support from IBEW 569 for making this event a reality. Thank you Mr. Jose Vargas, Assistant Principal for your coordination and logistics. THANK YOU to all Solar Coaches (Teachers) and all event volunteers including Montgomery High CTE Engineering Students led by Coach Amaro.

VEX Robotics Competition Tipping Point : 2021 - 2022 Game

🌻 Summer STEAM Opportunity 🌼

TritonHacks is a hackathon for high school students from underserved communities in San Diego, organized by a group of students at UCSD. We hope to create more opportunities for students from schools that lack access to resources in computer science and engineering.

If you would like to learn more about our motivations we have also written a Medium article here. The hackathon will be held online on the June 26 & 27, 2021. Participants will be able to explore different areas of computer science, including data science, app development, design, and web development, through workshops and projects.

Be the face and/or the voice of SUHSD STEAM!

SUHSD STEAM is inviting high school students (9th-12th) to volunteer as video or podcasts hosts. You will have the freedom to select the topic, theme, program, opportunity, or idea for the STEAM marketing efforts.


Your participation will be virtual! However, you will be able to tally hours of community service that can help you pursue your after high school plans.

Collaboration tops the list in a survey from the Women Business Collaborative (WBC) and Women’s Leadership Magazine USA in an issue out this week.
