Howard 24-25 Placement Consideration Form
Parents requesting special consideration for placing a student for the 2024-2025 school year are asked to complete the form attached below. The principal, counselor, and teachers will then determine placement for the student. There are many factors that go into a placement, and completion of the form doesn’t guarantee the request. Please return the form to the Howard office by Monday, April 29th to be considered.
HSSD Community Survey
HSSD residents: You should have received a mailed postcard to participate in a community-wide survey. The goal of the survey is to gather input on what we are doing well, where we need to improve, and to help establish planning priorities. There are also questions designed to gather feedback specific to district parents and guardians. The survey is open until April 26, 2024. Thank you for taking the survey and providing feedback! We appreciate you.

Brown County Health in conjunction with NWTC will be conducting vision screenings at Howard Elementary for all Kindergarten, 1st grade and 3rd grade students and any other special requests on April 26th and May 3rd. Please remind your student to wear their glasses or contacts on that day of screening.
If you do not want your student to receive a vision test, parents must contact the Howard office to opt-out.
Drop-off & pick-up in front of the school

Also, please do not block the driveways of the houses in front of the school at ALL times (even when no one is backing out of the driveway).

Class Field Trips have started! Read below if you ever would want to chaperone or volunteer at Howard!
- Anyone interested in volunteering must go through the approval process that includes a background check.
- More detailed information will be shared by your student's classroom teacher regarding the details of the field trips but we encourage you to begin this process now.
- If you think you may already be approved but are unsure, please contact Michelle Derousseau in our office at michdero@hssdschools.org to look up your information.
- Once approved, you are approved for as long as your student(s) are enrolled in the HSSD district.
- Apply Early! This process can take up to a month to complete while we wait for the results of the background check from our 3rd party vendor. It's often much quicker but can take this long.
- Below is PDF with instructions with screenshots of each step of the application process.
1. Once you follow the link, scroll down to where it says "Get Involved" under the Volunteer Login section. Click on that and more instructions will appear.
2. Click on "Create a volunteer profile". Once you do so, another window should open up to a new website.
3. Once there, you will see "Keyword" with a search box next to it. In that search box, type the word "Howard" and hit enter. Scroll down and you will see the names of all of the schools in the district.
4. Click on Howard Elementary School and you will be brought to the Howard Elementary Volunteer Page.
5. On the right hand side of the screen there is a "Fill in an application" button, click that.
6. On the next screen, begin entering your information under "I am new to MyImpactpage.com and follow the steps to complete the application. Shortly after you complete your application, you will receive an email from Kim Decur (HSSD Volunteer Coordinator) that includes the necessary information to begin the background check process. If you do not see that email within 24 hours, check your SPAM folder as it may have ended up there. If you still do not see the email, send a message to Kim (kimbdecu@hssdschools.org) and she will look into that for you.
