IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE ABSENT
PICKING UP YOUR CHILD DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
If you need to pick up your child during the school day (for an appointment for example), please send a note with your child that day that will inform their teacher and the office. If you forget to send a note, lease call the office with as much advanced notice as possible that day. This helps he teacher to prepare your student for their departure and minimize the time you may be waiting for your student. When you arrive you can enter the far right door into the vestibule area where there is a desk to sign out your student. If your student will be returning after the appointment, you will do the same and sign them in and then we will buzz your student into the office.
DROPPPING OFF YOUR CHILD LATE IN THE MORNING
If your child will be arriving late to school in the morning, please be sure to call the attendance line to let us know. When you arrive with your child to school, you can enter the far right door into the vestibule area where there is a desk to sign in your student. We will then buzz your student into the office and give them a pass to process to their classroom
Special Snack for Howard Students in September
Howard Elementary is partnering with School Nutrition to provide a snack program in the mornings to your child(ren) on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday's for the month of September. These high quality items are all locally grown items from Wisconsin. They come straight from organic, chemical farms and are going to be different and fun items that your child(ren) may have not tried before. Items include a rotation of the following: a variety of pepper (lunchbox and italian), variety of beans (dragon tongue and chinese long bean), pink shaped cherry tomatoes, multi colored carrots, and small pears (green and red!).
Please encourage them to try these items, even if it is a no thank you bite - they may be surprised and like it!

The Giving Tree
Did you know The Giving Tree offers family education opportunities during pantry time? We have a nutrition educator coming monthly and have offered resources such as energy assistance, insurance navigation and employment connection.
The Giving Tree is excited for a new school year! More than 600 students were invited to our one Back-to-School event in early August! These students received school supplies, backpacks, socks and underwear. Students were also given oral health care bags, had the opportunity to sign up for in-district dental care, and signed up for free or reduced meal benefits through our School Nutrition department. Families also received food from our pantry. If you think you may qualify for support from The Giving Tree, please reach out to Kourtney Feldhausen at kourfeld@hssdschools.org or call 920-662-7989.
