Free YMCA program for middle school girls
SHE (previously known as It’s A Girl Thing) is a 14-week program for female-identifying individuals in 6th – 8th grade.
This program focuses on building confidence, making social connections, and learning more about topics becoming more relevant in pre-teen life!
Each group meets for two hours every other week to explore a different theme. Groups are run by two Y Facilitators, who are often counselors or teachers.
In the first hour, guest speakers are invited from various Washington or Ozaukee County community organizations who are experts in their given topics to share knowledge and skills with the girls.
The second hour focuses on discussion and activities led by our facilitators.
Each group holds a maximum of 20 girls.
SHE focuses on growing an individual’s mental, social, and physical health through discussion, education, and skill building.
The girls can build self-esteem, feel empowered and create lasting friendships before entering high school.
Registration for the 2022 – 2023 SHE Program will open from August 15 – October 15. Spots are limited at each location. SHE runs cost FREE for all Y members and non-members!
