TGMS Weekly Updates

November 2, 2020

A message from Dr. Jackson

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our families for your support of our school community and staff throughout the past weeks. Your support has made a difference not only in your child's educational journey, but in our school life as well. The response to our virtual PTO fundraiser has been outstanding, the many names offered to honor our Veteran's will make an impressive display for our Veteran's Day celebration and the early response as we support of the Violet Township Fire Department as they prepare provide holiday assistance for families in need during this holiday season has been gratifying. A heartfelt thank you to all.

A reminder that the Pickerington Local School District will return to 4 day instruction beginning November 16, 2020 for all hybrid students. Please see the message from PLSD below.

A message from PLSD

Dear Parents/ Guardians of Hybrid Students,

At the October 12th, 2020 PLSD Board of Education Meeting, the Board determined that hybrid students (Cohorts A & B) will return to full in person learning Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday beginning on November 16th. Wednesday will remain a virtual learning day for the remainder of the semester for these students.

The administration and the Board also decided to allow full time Virtual Learning Academy students the opportunity to apply for a return to the face to face model based on space and availability by grade/building. The district held a lottery for VLA students in grades K-6 and the students that will vacate VLA will now have their “seats” made available. This will be the only opportunity for your student to apply and remain in VLA for the remainder of the year.

In order to be fair to all parties requesting consideration to transition to the VLA, a lottery will be held for any spots available by grade/building on Monday 11/9/20. In order to be considered, you must submit an application for each student you are requesting consideration for. The district will be sending out a communication to the K-6 hybrid learning families on Monday 11/2 at 8 AM along with a list of open seats available for VLA by grade level. The email will also include a link to a survey that must be completed to be considered for the lottery. If you would like to be considered for having your student transition to VLA, please be on the lookout for the email. The survey link will be open until Wednesday 11/4 at 4PM. If you’re content with the hybrid / in-person learning, there will be no action needed on your part.

A message from the Food Service Department

Beginning the week of November 1st, the Food Service Department is changing the sign up deadline for cohort and virtual food bags. The deadline will now be every Monday by 10am. An important reminder: Please sign up weekly as this helps control food waste and monitor inventory levels.
