On a June day, 1944, more than 150,000 Allied troops landed along a long stretch of heavily-protected French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy in France. Germans had miles of bunkers, land mines,and beach obstacles. Around 5,000 ships, and 11,000 plane were on the coastline that day. Over 10,000 people died that day including German troops. This was one of the biggest invasion in the United States history.

Pearl Harbor
On December 7th 1941 tons of Japanese fighter planes attacked a naval base named Pearl Harbor.This was the turning point in the war for America. Over 3500 died over an attack that lasted 2 hours. 350 airplanes were destroyed and 8 battle ships were sunk. One of the main ships was the USS Arizona but a 1800 bomb went through its deck.
