New student retreat

New Student Retreat is an exciting opportunity for your student to get away from campus, to meet new people, and to mix reflection with fun, all in the beautiful setting of Camp Indianola across the Puget Sound. Attendees can expect to hear talks from fellow SU students, to spend time in personal reflection, and to build community through small group sharing. Students will be invited to reflect on themes like community, discernment, spirituality, and love for self and others and will have ample opportunity for fun and community-building.

In 2019, NSR will be offered November 1-3 and November 15-17. Scholarships are available to cover the $30 retreat fee as needed. Encourage your student to learn more about the retreat and to register here: https://www.seattleu.edu/campus-ministry/retreats/new-student-retreat/.

Graduating this spring

Does your student expect to graduate in Spring 2020? They must apply to graduate by November 1.

Career Engagement

It's never too early for your student to take advantage of the opportunities from our Career Engagement Office. They have everything from on-line tutorials, individual advising appointments, job and internship help and assistance with grad school prep. Encourage your student to seek them out.

SU Dance Marathon

Seattle University Dance Marathon (SUDM) is a student run organization dedicated towards raising funds for Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Strong Against Cancer Research organization. Seattle Children’s Hospital is only one of many hospitals across the country that are part of the Children’s Miracle Network, dedicated to treating and researching children illnesses. With the outpour of fundraising and support from individuals, businesses and organizations like SUDM, Children’s Miracle Network hospitals are able to help and improve the lives of over 17 million children.

So how do we help make miracles happen? Each year, SUDM strives to educate and engage with the greater Seattle community through various events. Some of our events include a community-based Miracle Day when businesses/organizations partner to raise funds and the family fun Color Me a Miracle 5K in the spring! Our biggest event is a 16-hour dance marathon, happening on February 15, 2020, where SUDM gathers to celebrate Miracle Kids and their families.

In honor of Seattle Children’s 113th year, SUDM is aiming to register 700 participants and raise $113,000! Education and fundraising go hand in hand, so whether you donate $10 or volunteer 2 hours of your time, you are making a difference!
