Friday Family Update
It was an awesome week here at PRES. This week, our kindergarten teachers held an open house for our kindergarten families. The event was well attended, and it was great to see families and students eager to start the year. On Tuesday, we welcomed the rest of our PRES family, our preschool and kindergarten students. Students spent the day learning, playing, creating, making friends, and having fun!
Our students in grades 1-4 had a fantastic week. Our older students did a great job acting as role models for our newest PRES family members. They took the youngsters under their wings and helped them on the bus, modeled how to follow hallway routines, and helped to ensure they found their way around the building. We are so lucky to have such fantastic role models here at PRES! In addition to helping our new members, our 1st-4th graders were busy learning and having fun! While visiting classrooms, we heard engaging read-aloud stories, saw students engaged in crafts, learning about comparing numbers, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers, creating personal narrative and opinion writing pieces, singing songs, and playing games.
On Tuesday, we also held our meet and greet. It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance. We enjoyed meeting you and seeing the students having fun with their peers. A special thank you to the PTSA for hosting the event. We hope you all enjoyed your frozen lemonade.
Our open house for grades 1-4 was held on Thursday and was a huge success. We were so happy to see so many adults in attendance. We hope you enjoyed meeting with your child's teacher and learning more about what your child will be learning this year.
We look forward to partnering with you to help ensure your child has a fantastic year.
Please read on to learn about a few more exciting items for the upcoming school year, including upcoming calendar dates. If you should need help or support, please contact us by phone or email anytime. We are always happy to help. Have a great weekend!

This Month's Lunch Menu
Hello Palmer River Families and Friends:
A friendly reminder that our entering kindergarten and fourth grade students are required by the Commonwealth to submit a current physical and immunization record to the school nurse. The exam must be dated within the last 13 months to be valid. These can be sent in with your learner, faxed to 508-252-5110, or emailed to abellora@drregional.org.
Thank you parents and guardians for sending in clothing for your children. If you missed our last newsletter, please send your child in with a set of clothing (including socks) for accidents, spills, or illness.
Finally, we will be planning state mandated health screenings. This will be rolled out in consideration to time on learning. Please contact the health office in writing if you wish to decline screening(s) for your student.
Here is what to expect:
Vision: grades 1 through 4
Hearing: kindergarten through grade 3
Heights and Weights: grades 1 and 4
*Please note that students entering Kindergarten are required by Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 71 and Section 57, to have had a vision screening completed by a physician’s office.
Have a great weekend !!
