Disney's Fantasia LIVE in Concert with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra

I had a wonderful opportunity to see a movie with a live symphony orchestra playing the musical score last night. It was truly amazing! If you have ever seen the old 1940s or new 2000s movie Fantasia then you will understand what I mean.

In 1940 Walt Disney created a series of animated stories to compliment the great musical scores of long ago, and then his nephew, Roy Disney in 2000 did the same. They used musical scores such as: Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, Stravinsky's Firebird

Suite, Saint Saens Carnival of the of the Animals, Tchaikovsky's The Nutcraker Suite, Respighi's Pines of Rome, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, and of course the famous Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas featuring Mickey Mouse and his buckets and

brooms mischief.

What was most thrilling was to see how the musical score exactly lined up with the animation. They even took some rhythmic liberties with some pieces, especially The Nutcracker Suite, it was interesting. To me it gave the feeling of what it

is really like when a composer works with a live orchestra to create a musical score of a movie (well the finished product), but it was really neat. The Czech Orchestra was really good too, especially their string section! If you ever have an opportunity to see

something like this, a movie with LIVE musical accompaniment I highly recommend it!
