The Seahawk Scoop
February 15, 2021
Dear Beach Middle Families,
We are preparing to welcome our F2F 7th and 8th grade students next week. Links to informational presentations will be sent out via AlertNow on Friday. Tonight parents can expect an AlertNow informing/reminding of their child's option. We do have a waiting list of students wishing to change to F2F. We will continue working to accommodate those requests. If your child is an Option 1 student and you are intending to change them to Option 2, please notify us as soon as possible so that we may use the seat for another child.
As you may know, we have a new system in VBCPS for Term Two to help monitor the implementation of mitigation strategies. Each school will be visited by Safety Assessment Teams. We had our first visit this past week and it was a resounding success. The team highlighted several areas- our distance markers throughout the building that provides a visual for students, QR codes for classroom visitors, seating charts for all classrooms were readily available, and our custodial teams quickly moving into areas for cleaning when a group of students leave. Safety of our staff and students is our top priority. Thank you for working with your child to reinforce the importance of the mitigations. The students have done a phenomenal job.
I hope all of you have a great week. Do not hesitate to reach out if we can assist in any way. As always, thank you for the support of our staff and students. It means the world!

VB Educational Foundation Grant Winners We are so excited that our Art Academy teachers, Ms. Baker and Ms. Provow, were awarded two grants through the Virginia Beach Educational Foundation. The two grants will have art students working collaboratively with the community as well as students in Ms. Kramarczuk's reading class. We are grateful to Quality Stone Concepts for underwriting these grants. | Ms. Provow is a published author We are excited that Ms. Provow has had her work published in School Arts Magazine. The article featured a fun wood-cut mosaic project that she completed with her 6th & 7th grade artists last year! If you would like to read the article, click here. https://lsc-pagepro.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?m=60985&i=692112&p=36&ver=html5 | Kudos to Ms. Collins Ms. Collins, 6th grade English teacher, was recently recognized for being the first teacher in VBCPS to earn the Relationship Skills badge for the SEL in the Classroom Specialization. This is a new professional learning opportunity by the division to recognize teachers who wish to focus their growth. The Relationship Skills badge represents Ms. Collins commitment to ongoing, action-oriented, and reflective professional learning. |
