Governance Board Meeting Highlights
FEBRUARY
Finances. We reviewed our finances and the outlook on funding as it relates to the Annual Campaign and Frolic with the Fairies. We discussed the Dues Letter that will go out in March.
Sonar Tide Sculpture. Andrea Tortora reported on a recent meeting that she and Amanda Campbell had with Mayor Jim Ardis and representatives from the City, the Peoria Civic Center Authority and the Peoria Riverfront Museum. We are moving forward with finding a consultant to assess Sonar Tide and determine the work needed to restore and preserve it. We will have our April General Membership Meeting at the Riverfront Museum, during the month-long exhibit of Ronald Bladen’s work.
Nominating. There are still 2 open positions. Secretary on the Governance Board and PR Chair on the Management Team. Please consider applying.
Frolic. An update was provided. We briefly discussed potential vendors.
Leadership Transition. We discussed planning a “leadership transition” meeting at the end of the League year, to ensure an information exchange between outgoing and incoming committee chairs.
Women’s Groups. Andrea Tortora reported on an exploratory meeting among the Women’s Fund, Women in Leadership, NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) and the Junior League. Representatives from each group met to discuss how we might partner in the future. There is the potential to partner on a Leadership Conference, but much more work and discussion must first take place.
JANUARY
The January meeting serves as a mid-year touch-base with Governance Board and Management Team members attending together.
We spent time talking about the Strategic Plan and how we are tracking the numbers related to each goal, such as building a leadership pipeline, etc. (An update was presented at the February GMM.)
The group also reviewed the calendar for the rest of the year. A Done In A Day is planned for April 25, 2020 at the Community Garden at Glendale Commons.

March General Membership Meeting + Frolic with the Fairies Setup
The March GMM will be at the Par-a-Dice Hotel (21 Blackjack Blvd, East Peoria). The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00PM and will end in time to set up for Frolic with the Fairies.
Please consider helping for any amount of time you can! Tasks include draping, center pieces, stage, entrance details, dance floor, table cloths and more.
The monthly GMM is a great opportunity for JLP to discuss key issues and distribute important information. In doing this, JLP maintains transparency by keeping members informed on the status of the League.
If you are interested in joining the League, this is a great opportunity to attend and better understand our initiatives.
