Dear Everitt Families:

I hope you all enjoyed your snow day on Wednesday. It's always fun to come to school and see Everitt's hill covered in sledding tracks on the day after a snow day. Each evening as I leave, the hill is covered with happy families enjoying the snow. Our middle schoolers are ready to get back on the basketball courts on the north side of our building, though. These Colorado kids aren't used to the snow sticking around!

Our "What We're Working on at Everitt" slides (found below) are updated. Check them out to see what is going on in our classrooms this month and to find out how to support your student in their classes. Thanks to our wonderful teachers for putting together this information.

Next week at Cafe con la Directora, we will begin preparing for International Night. This year, International Night will be a community-wide event. We are working with each of our elementary schools and Wheat Ridge High School to create an event that celebrates all of the beautiful cultures and countries represented in our community. If you would like to share your family's culture, please join us on Wednesday evening at 6:00! If you can't make it on Wednesday but would like to participate, reach out to Edgar Solis, family liaison, and he will get you everything you need.

Please mark your calendars to come to the PTA Family Night “Soups On!” on Wednesday, February 1st from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in the cafeteria. This will be a night of enjoying soups made by our community and each other's company. You can sign up to share a favorite recipe here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F44A8AD23ABF4C43-soups or just bring your family and have a bowl, play games and connect!

Thanks to all of you who filled out the family survey last week. If you haven't yet filled it out, please do so. The survey helps us to know what we are doing well and how we can better serve you and your family. We value your feedback.

Last week, I promised to share our 6th and 8th grade honor roll lists and other celebrations. Since we didn't get to celebrate with our students this week (due to the snow day), I will share them next week.

Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) CORNER:

PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION) CORNER:

Our focus is on building lasting connections between families, getting to know our student’s teachers, and creating opportunities to come together as a community, valuing our diversity and celebrating our differences.

Happy 2023 to everyone! It is great to get back into the rhythm of school again for the second half of this school year! We got back together on the 11th for our PTA meeting that included hearing from Principal Pouliot as our spotlight of the month. If you have a minute, ask her about what she is planning for her Doctoral Thesis!

We also have 2 very exciting events coming up to mark your calendars for.

On Wednesday February 1st from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in place of our PTA meeting we are having a Family Community Night called “SOUP’S ON!”. We are asking folks to bring a crockpot of soup or similar to share. The PTA will provide drinks and treats. We will announce the student winners of our sticker contest and play some can jam, as well, in the cafeteria! Please sign up to bring something yummy to share here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F44A8AD23ABF4C43-soups

On Thursday March 9th from 5:00pm - 7:30pm we have International Night. This year it will expand to be a celebration of the diversity in our Everitt and Wheat Ridge communities! Would you like to share about your own family's culture at the event? Or do you have ideas about local restaurants that might be willing to donate a platter of food or a performance group that might like to be featured at this event? We would love your help in making this event a success! Please click on this google form: https://forms.gle/8SsyaL9fqR1aiyJq8 .

We will send out reminders and post dates and meeting minutes on the PTA page (https://everitt.jeffcopublicschools.org/family_resources/p_t_a ) as well as our FaceBook site (https://www.facebook.com/groups/everittpta).

If you have not already done so, please consider joining the PTA TODAY to have a voice and be a part of our community - Sign-up here: https://forms.gle/iekuJqx6YGXFsg6q7

We are always open to new ideas on how to bring our great Everitt community together and look forward to learning from each other. Please feel free to send any questions or suggestions to the PTA at EverittPTA@gmail.com or to me directly at dan.b.weinstein@gmail.com or 720-291-1435.

Thank you,

Dan
