Week 9

5B: Aayesha & Samarpan
Thank you to all those who attended the camp information evening on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend you should have received the A4 brown envelope containing information and permission slips. Please return these along with the payment straight after the half term break.
Below is a link to the presentation that we shared on the evening:
Maths
Number groups
The children will be continuing to review and reflect on the different strategies involving the four operations; addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. Ask your child(ren) to teach you a new strategy this week.
Strand - Angles
This week the children will be continuing to familiarize themselves with a protractor. This is a skill that has been challenging to most students. Below are some links where you can practice together to improve their skills in estimating and measuring angles.
Unit of Inquiry - Where we are in Place and Time
Our central idea for this unit is:
Migration can impact on people and society
Discussion points to have with your child this week:
- The 5 stages of migration: preparing, leaving, travelling, arriving & adapting.
- Personal family migration stories.
- Retell the class story of 'Music on the Bamboo Radio' by Martin Booth.
Homework this week
This week's homework:
The children have already experienced using Google Tour Builder to explore their teachers' migration stories (as per the Beacon UOI page). For this week's homework they must use Google Tour Builder to show a migration story. This may be the migration story of themselves, a family member, domestic helper or friend. Please note that to complete this homework you must have Google Earth installed on your computer/laptop, when you log in to the Google Tour Builder website you will prompted if needed. Please contact your class teacher if you think your child will be unable to complete this work at home.
https://tourbuilder.withgoogle.com/
The children should log in with their school Google accounts and then share their tour with their class teacher as well as use the link to add it to their Beacon page.
Wevideo
Please remember to keep uploading content into your Wevideo account. Those children who did not do this last week had issues keeping up with the rest of the class in their ICT lesson.
Remember to hand in/share homework by the Wednesday of the week you return to school.
