Curriculum Expectations and Resources
- It is expected that all teachers follow the curriculum documents provided by the Division of Academics for every content area.
- Curriculum Instructional Maps (CIM)/Framework Guides, Look-Fors documents, and other resources are built to address the rigorous standards established to ensure college and career readiness for our students.
- The Curriculum Hub in Canvas provides access to all curriculum documents and resources in addition to the resources listed in the link below for administrators and teachers.
Collaborative Planning
Please plan accordingly so that you arrive on time. Travel time is built in so if teachers arrive on time there is a solid 30 minutes for collaboration.
The focus for collaborative planning continues to be Effective Questioning. How are our questions landing? Are we getting the desired responses from students? If not, what's next? If so, what's next?
This week 3rd grade will meet for CP. For all other grades, this is an action week. If you have questions, please reach out to admin, Mrs. Kessler or Mrs. Payne.
Mathematics
Math Benchmark
Benchmark 1 is considered an interim assessment within our K-12 Assessment System. Interim assessments are given occasionally throughout a larger period of time and are considered to be a predictor of how students will do on state assessments. Data is often used at the school level and also drives district decisions. Benchmark 1 covers quarter 1 content, and includes reasoning and modeling items.
A few reminders for administration of Benchmarks:
Math manipulatives can only be used on benchmarks for Grades K, 1 & 2.
Anchor charts on classroom walls do not need to be covered and can remain up on walls. The only anchor charts up should be those that have been used through instruction, nothing new.
Proofing paper (scratch paper) can be distributed to students to show their work. The paper should be collected and used for scoring the reasoning and modeling items.
Reminder: Once proofing paper is used, it becomes secure material.
Professional Development
Signature Strategies and Lesson Components
Self-paced sessions during quarter 2 will provide teachers opportunities to view the implementation of researched-based instructional practices that support student reasoning and sensemaking. Sessions begin Wednesday, November 9, 2022 and will be available until January 24, 2023.
