1. PTSA (NEW)
A big THANK YOU to all the parents who joined us yesterday for our first general PTSA meeting of the year. We were able to present our proposed 2015-2016 school year budget and gain approval by those in attendance. We’re ready to roll! Membership in PTSA is one way to help fund the programs we are able to provide for our students as well as the wish list items for our campus that the district does not provide. If you haven’t yet joined PTSA, we hope you will consider purchasing a membership for you and your student. We have 1,552 students enrolled at Clark for this school year and would love to see all families represented in PTSA membership.
How else do we fund our programs?
· Annual school supply sale at Cougar Preview each August
· Spirit wear sales
· PTSA membership sales
· Good old-fashioned donations are always welcome!
Our annual school supply sale is over, but spirit wear and PTSA membership sales continue throughout the school year. Spirit wear does more than just fund our programs. Spirit wear creates an atmosphere of school pride and community whether it’s in the halls/classrooms at school, a sea of red in the stadium/gym, or out in the community. If you haven’t yet purchased any spirit wear, it’s not too late! We’ll be selling spirit wear at Open House and will be offering more opportunities in the future.
Check out our upcoming PTSA newsletter later this month to learn more about our programs planned for this year.
Go Cougars!!!
2. ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR (NEW)
Reporting a student absent: A parent/guardian should call the student absence line to report a student absence. Call 469-752-7200 option 1 for English, or option 2 for Spanish, next press option 3 to leave a message. Leave the student name, ID#, reason for the absence, date of the absence and who is reporting the absence.
Parent notes: A student has up to (3) three days after an absence to turn in a parent/doctor note in order to receive an excused absence. The note should include the students name, ID number, reason and dates of the absence. A parent call does not excuse the absence.
Leaving school ill: If a student becomes ill while at school, he/she should go to the nurse's office. The nurse will contact the parents. The student and parent must then sign out at the attendance office before leaving. A student should not call/text you from their cell phone to tell you they are sick and to pick them up. Cell phone use is not allowed during class time. We have a phone available for students in the front office.
Doctor/Dental appointments: If your student must leave school early, PLEASE send a note with him/her so that he/she can be released from class. The student can sign out and wait for you in the front office. A doctor's note is required when the student returns to school. The state requires us to have a doctor's note when a student is gone for an appointment.
Other absences: Non-School activities must be pre-approved by the principal in order for the student to make up missed work. The Student Absence Request Form is available in the front office and on the Clark website in the FORMS section. The form needs to be filled out and turned in to the attendance office at least a week before the absence.
REMEMBER - NOTES CAN PREVENT UNEXCUSED ABSENCES!
