Warm Clothing Drive

Attention Parents and Students:

Vernfield’s Student Council is hosting a WARM CLOTHING Drive from Feb. 2nd to Feb. 9th.

All items will be donated to The Mitzvah Circle Foundation.

Items being collected are new or gently used.

Acceptable items: coats, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, ear muffs

*Additional needed items include: toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant

(Toiletries need to be unopened.)

Donations can be dropped off in the main lobby. Thank you!!!

Prime Time Reading (Grades K-2)


Prime Time Reading Night is coming up on Friday, February 9th from 6-8PM for our K-2 students. The theme this year is "Reading Makes Dreams Come True", and students (along with a parent) will enjoy fairy-tale themed activities and skits performed by their very own teachers! Please register online by Monday, February 6 so that we have an accurate count for supplies.

Students are invited to wear their pajamas, but will need appropriate footwear and clothing for a Gym activity. You will also want to bring a favorite book, a flashlight and a blanket.

2018 SASD All-District Elementary Honors Orchestra

Students from all six Souderton elementary schools are meeting on Saturday mornings this month in preparation for their upcoming performance in February. This year, the Honors Orchestra contains it’s largest group in six years with 105 string members and 3 percussionists! Sixteen are Vernfield students! While a few musicians are in their first year of playing, the majority of the orchestra contains students who have been playing for at least two years. Please join us for the performance taking place on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 PM followed by a light reception.

The Vernfield Elementary Marci Yoder Scholarship Fund

In memory of Mrs. Yoder, a scholarship fund has been created, which will be awarded to a Souderton Area High School graduate that is entering the field of education and had been a student at Vernfield for at least 3 years. This student will also need to be one that has followed the Vernfield Vision throughout their school career.

If any families are interested in donating to the Vernfield Elementary Marci Yoder Scholarship Fund, please send a check made out to Vernfield Home and School with Marci Yoder Scholarship Fund specified on the memo area of your check. Thank you!

DVD Literacy

Our DVD Literacy committee will begin taping our 3rd grade students this Monday, February 5th! . Information was sent home this week in your child's Communicator. The reminder form and questions can be found online here. Please help your child remember to bring their favorite book to school this week!

Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped record our 4th Grade students! We were able to finish in record time!!!

If you have not yet signed a permission form for your child (it only needs to be done once), a copy will be sent home in your child's communicator or you can find it online here (see also permission letter).

Kidstuff Books

Our Kidstuff committee has 16 books left that can be offered for a discounted price of $15.00 (originally $25.00). Our school will get to keep $6.00 for each of these books sold. If you are interested in purchasing one of these books, please contact Betsy Powlus


The yearbook committee is looking for parents to help with the layouts of the individual class pages. This is a fun and easy way to help make our Yearbook extra special. If you would like to help with your child's classroom page, please contact Sandra Esposito

on January 17! Jackson was 7lbs, 2oz and 18in.

Yearbook (Spring 2018 and future)

The Yearbook Committee is looking for help with the Spring 2018 Yearbook as well as someone to begin learning how to put together the yearbook when the current staff 'graduates'. The students love receiving a yearbook, and it is a great way to preserve memories from year to year. If you are interested, please contact Sandra Esposito at

Pod Parents (Summer 2018)

Our Pod Parent committee needs a new chair for the 2018-2019 school year. Pod parents are volunteers that help teachers with many 'start up' tasks during the first week of school, which include copying, cutting, labeling, sorting, etc. The main role of the chair of this committee is create a Sign-up genius to send to interested parents. Sound of Music Jr. (Feb 1-3)

Indian Crest Middle School is pleased to present their school musical, The Sound of Music (Jr).

Free Family Program (Wednesdays, Feb 7 - Mar 21)

The Indian Valley Character Counts Coalition (IVCCC) is offering a free "Family Night Out" program for parents and youth ages 10 - 14 at Indian Crest Middle School. The program, dinner, child care for younger siblings, raffles and prizes are all provided free of charge. You and your children will learn skills to help your family succeed during the teen years. FBLA Valentine's Babysitting Event (Feb 10th)

This event gives you the opportunity to have a few hours of uninterrupted time for Valentine's Day. We will offer fun games, activities, crafts, and a movie for your children. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the event. Our event will be supervised by student members of Future Business Leaders of America and high school staff. Souderton Area Community Education (SACE) (Winter/Spring)
