The 5Essentials results are displayed on the Illinois Report Card. Please use the following link to participate in the 5Essential survey.

November Growth Mindset
"WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS." ~ROBERT INGERSOLL
We have said that growth mindset is simply the belief that things like intelligence and ability can be changed. So, you may find yourself asking, what do relationships have to do with it? After all, only you can control your mindset, right? Well, yes and no. While it's true that only an individual can change his or her mindset, we believe that through developing strong relationships, it's possible to foster a classroom environment in which conditions are ripe for students to embrace a growth mindset. Our theme for November is I Am a Valued Member of this Learning Community. For more information, check out this link:
STEM Expo
U-46 will host kick-off events November at local libraries to prepare students and families for the 2020 STEM Expo, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 at Streamwood High School. The fall kick-off events at the libraries will give students a chance to engage with cutting-edge technologies, experiment with next-generation science, and enjoy live chemistry and physics demonstrations.
The STEM Expo is open to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Any K-12 students who are looking for ideas for their projects can use the kick-off events as brainstorming opportunities. All kick-off events will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. They are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin and Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Gail Borden’s Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin.
