Irons Jr. High Newsletter
We Are Hawks!
March 4, 2022
Irons Family,
I cannot believe that we are a week away from spring break! We have had a busy few weeks. Irons students have completed course selection for 8th and 9th grade, competed in robotics, science fair, and science bowl, started track, had a fantastic choir concert and theatre performance, and our second dance, to name a few events that have taken place. Congratulations to our Science Bowl Team, who finished 2nd place among all CISD Jr. High Schools at their recent competition.
Irons National Jr. Honor Society has done a fantastic job with service to the school. I cannot thank them enough for the several trash clean-up days they have completed on campus. Thank you for your leadership!
Our students have taken STAAR Interim assessments in all core subjects on the instructional side. The data we receive will help our teachers develop reteaching and intervention plans over the next few weeks to help meet their needs. Students who do not meet the minimum standard on the STAAR assessment must receive 30 hours of small group intervention per subject in the summer or next school year. You can help by ensuring that your child is in attendance for school every day and supporting them by encouraging them to always give their best effort. Our next newsletter will have more information about the online STAAR assessments students will take in early May.
We are in the process of reviewing our High Reliability Schools Level one certification. As part of this process, we ask that you take a few minutes and provide feedback to us with the following survey. Your feedback will help us review our HRS Level One Safe, Supportive, and collaborative culture systems.
State Required Spinal Screenings will take place on March 29 and March 30. You can read all the information below.
Summer School will take place from 6/8 to 7/1 from 8:30-3:30 Monday to Friday at McCullough Jr. High. Students will be required to attend summer school for all subjects they do not pass for the year. Now is the time to review your child's academic progress and focus on any needed improvement. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teachers.
Yearbooks remain on sale, and we are down to our last 70 books. Please purchase soon! Once the remaining 70 books are sold, that will be it for the school year.
If your child is missing any items, they need to check lost and found by Thursday, March 10th. After spring break, all unclaimed items will be donated to the women's shelter.
