Padilla Elementary School
Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.
A Note from Principal Purfurst
Welcome back from winter break! I hope you and your families all had an enjoyable time over the break! We are so excited to welcome your students back to Padilla!
As COVID cases surge again, please help us keep in-person learning happening at Padilla! If your child is sick, please keep them home so that we can prevent the spread of COVID at Padilla. The best way for us to keep staff and students in the building is to ensure that we do not have an outbreak among classes, and the best way to do that is for individuals who are sick to stay home. We greatly appreciate your help with this!
An Update from Dean Hawkins
Drills this week:
There are no scheduled drills this week. However the week before break we successfully completed a Shelter Hazmat drill as well as our monthly Evac-Fire drill. Both drills were completed successfully with our students and staff doing tremendous jobs!
English Language Learning Students:
As we return from Winter Break, our EL students will be taking the ACCESS test, Jan 11-Jan 26. We greatly appreciate your help to ensure your student’s attendance during this testing window. Additional communication in regards to the scheduling and assessment will be sent out this week.
Thank you!
Vape Found:
The week before the holiday break a Vape was found outside on the back playground. We share this info with you for the purpose of being transparent and to also make you aware as to how similar this particular Vape looked to an actual eraser that many of our students keep in their desks. After some investigation and many hours of watching video, we believe that the Vape was left on the playground last weekend not during school hours. As we work together to educate our students, we ask that when you feel it appropriate to please have the conversation with your student about the dangers of all smoke and smokeless products.
Thank you for your help with this important issue!
Artic Award Winners!
Congratulations to the following students for being nominated for our first ever Arctic Award recipients for the first semester! These students were nominated by an adult in our building for their outstanding efforts with our CHILL Keys for our first semester of learning. This award will be given out quarterly moving forward! Along with a certificate of achievement, winning students will also receive a yard sign for our families to proudly display announcing this outstanding accomplishment! We do ask however that a family member of our winning students come to the school in order to pick up this yard sign as there are stakes that accompany the signs in order for them to stick in your yard. You may pop-in any time during school hours to pick up your student’s sign! Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions about this process!

Mask Reminder
27J Schools continue to remain under the Tri-County Health Department's mask requirements. All individuals who enter the building are required to wear a mask. Please help us remain in compliance with this requirement by sending your child with a mask to school everyday. Please also send your child with a backup mask in their backpack in the event their original mask gets lost, damaged, or dirty.
