Smart Searching
Students see google as the best search engine for every task. Although it IS the best for many things, we need to teach students to harness its power for their academic work.
Some Solutions*:
Direct instruction in other search engines - looking at benefits and limitations of each
Direct instruction in understanding how "Search" works
Direct instruction in google search tips
* Note: Your In-Flight crew can do mini-lessons on these!
This We Believe:
- Unless we are assessing their ability to search, we need to give students the best resources.
- If we ask students to find information, we need to teach them how to search.
