Like all organizations, communication is vital to our daily work and operations. While we pride ourselves in our efforts to transparently communicate on a consistent basis, we also know that this work is ongoing.

We continue to look closely at our communication, including the content we share and the tactics we utilize. Ultimately, we strive to meaningfully connect with our stakeholders about who we are; the happenings in our district; and what we believe about education, community, and achievement. As a reminder, there are many ways to connect with Midview Local Schools:

  1. This weekly newsletter: Check in often for news, success, and updates on things that impact our district (like the upcoming levy)! For building specific information, make sure your information is updated in FinalForms to receive the building newsletters.

  2. Local papers and news sources: Many of our student’s and district’s accomplishments are featured online or in print. Specifically, the Rural-Urban Record runs a bi-weekly feature and can be viewed online at: https://rural-urbanrecord.com/.

  3. District website: This is our central hub for information. Answers to many questions can be found by visiting our district or building web pages.

  4. Social media: Our social media channels share new, exciting, relevant information. Find us on Facebook (Midview Local School District), Twitter (@MidviewLocal), and Instagram (midviewlocal).

  5. Midview Local Schools App: Download the free Midview Schools App from the Apple App Store or on Google Play to get the latest news and alerts from the district and your school(s).

Levy Article Levy Article

As you know, Midview Local Schools will appear on the May 2, 2023, ballot. The proposed 10-year substitute levy will generate $6,200,000 annually and replace the two existing emergency levies that expire at the end of 2023. This levy is NOT A NEW TAX for current residents.

As with any matter that impacts our district financially, it is our responsibility to communicate the facts to our community. As we move closer to May 2, we will continue to share information about the upcoming substitute levy on the aforementioned channels.

Maintaining an open line of communication is important if we hope to have meaningful dialogue. If you find yourself with questions, please do not hesitate to contact Superintendent Bruce Willingham at bwillingham@midviewk12.org or Treasurer Mike Resar at mresar@midviewk12.org.

Social-Emotional Feature Social-Emotional Feature

In an effort to provide our students with the support and resources they need to deal with the ever-changing world, social-emotional learning (SEL) remains a consistent focus of our strategic plan. From our team of dedicated staff members to numerous grants secured for resources, our students’ mental health needs and social-emotional wellbeing is a top priority for Midview Local Schools.

At present, the district has 16 staff members in social-emotional support roles:

  • Four building counselors (North: Aimee Hamm, West: Mike Guildoo, East: Tammy Hammond, Middle School: Lisa Simpson)

  • Four counselors at the High School (Robyn Fox - Last names A-E, Olivia Minervino - Last names F-L, Tara White - Last names M-R, Katie Jozefkowicz - Last names S-Z)

  • Three student family liasions (North: Bethany DiFranco, West: Jordane Breha, East: Patrick O’Neill)

  • Two full-time district social workers (Samantha Hess & Cassie Haight)

  • One LCADA Ohio-certified Prevention Specialist (Shannon Perry)

  • One School Resource Officer (David Lottman)

  • One District Coordinator of Student Support Services (Shane Sullivan)

In addition to on-campus staff, Midview Local Schools also partners with multiples outside agencies that provide additional support on an as needed basis. These entities include New Leaf Counseling Services, LLC; Bellefaire JCB; The LACADA Way, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Lorain County; Common View Collaborative, Psych and Psych Services; Applewood Centers; MHARS Board; Effective Leadership Academy (ELA); and CommonGround.

In an effort to embed SEL into instruction, the district established a Social-Emotional Grade Level Continuum last year. As students progress through Midview Local Schools, our social-emotional curriculum evolves with them and remains a consistent focus of their education.

Combined, these efforts help Midview Local Schools ensure that we are offering the supports our students and families deserve.
