SW's Plans for an Athletic Field House

Southwestern Consolidated Schools is excited to share proposed plans for an addition of an athletic field house. The field house is to be built on the north side of Southwestern Junior - Senior High School. The blueprint below shows the proposed option of the addition. In pink, there are two basketball courts with areas for bleachers. In green, there is a boys' locker room, girls' locker room, and an area for restrooms. In yellow, there is an area for a concession stand. The tentative completion date of the proposed field house is in the fall of 2021.

We need your help!

In order to make this plan a reality for our Spartans, we need Spartan Nation's help. To fund this addition, the corporation is asking for a $0.0434 increase on your property tax certified rate. This would increase the certified rate from $0.6473 to $0.6907. In the charts below, you can compare Southwestern Consolidated School District's certified rate (current and proposed with the increase) to surrounding school districts. The below data was retrieved from the Department of Local Government Finance's website. You can access these reports by clicking on the buttons below.

First Grader Emma Stamper will be traveling to California this summer to compete as a finalist in the 2019 Braille Challenge sponsored by the Braille Institute at the University of Southern California! The Braille Challenge is an annual academic competition designed with two stages to motivate students who are blind or visually impaired to emphasize their study of braille while rewarding their success with fun-filled, challenging local and national events. Emma was one of thousands of children in first - second grade to compete in preliminary events held throughout the United States and Canada. Only the top 10 scoring students from each of the five competitive categories were invited to Los Angeles for the final round! . Congratulations, Emma! We are extremely proud of you! While we won't be able to make the trip to California with you, Spartan Nation will be cheering you on from home! Good luck, Emma!

5th Grade's Living Wax Museum

Southwestern Elementary School's fifth graders performed a Living Wax Museum of Famous People from the American Revolution. Our Spartans posed as statues of famous individuals from this time period, dressed in costume with props, and recited a speech they wrote about their person. As visitors come through the museum, they pressed a “button” on each statue’s hand to hear the statue tell his or her information. A few of the statues included Thomas Jefferson, Martha Washington, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross, Benedict Arnold, and Elizabeth Freeman. Awesome job, Spartans!

See it, Report it!

Safety is one of our district's top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, we've taken an important step that we want to share with you. Our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration four different ways:

  1. Phone: 317.676.1691
  2. Text: 317.676.1691
  3. Email: 1748@alert1.us
  4. Web: http://1748.alert1.us

You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert. Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to work and learn! Thanks in advance for your support!
