Covid Testing Help Needed!
Student Covid Testing
If you are interested in having your child participate in testing, please follow the link below and complete the registration process. A parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old, and you’ll give a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization to share your child’s results with the school and district.
Testing is optional for students, except for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated student athletes. Testing will take place during regular school hours and results will be available in 24 to 48 hours. Color Health will follow up with you directly if the pool in which your child participated has a positive result.
School T-Shirt Exchange
The T-shirt upcycle has been moved to the Healthy Family Fest (HFF). There will be a bin in the front lobby of the school starting 9/14 where LaSalle 2 shirts your kids have outgrown can be placed in to be passed down to littler LS2 students. You may also bring the shirts to the HFF. LaSalle 2 shirts ONLY- any size, any color, any sleeve length.
At the HFF if you need or your kids want LS2 t-shirts come visit the table. All shirts are free. In the past we had shirts from XS to adult sizes. Taking care of the environment and reducing landfill also is keeping with the mission of Healthy Family Fest.

This year's event will take place in the school playground, field, and on Wolcott Ave. Please note that Wolcott Ave will be closed to parking and traffic on this day from noon to 6pm with the exception of student pick-up.

Changes to Pick-Up on October 15th
Below is a traffic flow map for student pick-up on Friday, October 15th. On this day Wolcott Ave will be closed off to parking and traffic for the Healthy Family Fest from 12pm to 6pm.
From 2:30pm -3pm the east side of the street will be made available for student pick-up. We will provide one lane for vehicles to stop and pick-up students as normal and a moving lane for vehicles to pass the stopped vehicles. The west half of the street will be closed off for vendor setup. Traffic cones or similar available delineators will be used to separate the moving traffic and closed section.
Note that there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic at this time due to vendors setting up for the HFF during pick-up.
Bilingual Advisory Committee
Congratulations to our new Bilingual Advisory Committee! We are still looking for parents to fulfill the volunteer positions of Secretary, Representative, and Alternative Representative. For a more detailed description of each office, please take a look at the information from our first BAC meeting by clicking here. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please email Ms. Moldovan - amoldovan1@cps.edu.
The only requirement is that the parent must have a child in one of our bilingual programs. All families with children in the program have received a notification letter from Ms. Moldovan.
The BAC is recognized as a standing committee of the Local School Council (LSC). As a standing committee, the BAC reports to the LSC regarding bilingual education issues, updates, and concerns in the school. Through the BAC we hope that the partnerships developed between parents, principals, teachers, and students will foster, support and empower the LaSalle II community.
If you were not able to attend the first meeting, you may watch here.

October SEL Theme of the Month: GOAL SETTING
Congratulations to us all on making it through the first month back to 'normalcy!' Now that we're comfortably back in school, let's talk about Goal Setting. Kids and adults alike should regularly set big and small goals for their future so we can all continue to grow and improve as humans. Check out some of the books, videos, and resources related to Goal Setting in this month's Bitmoji classroom, linked below. Happy October!
Wolcott Mural Update
We finally have new descriptor tiles that have been put up next to our Wolcott mural. This descriptor is so helpful in putting the mural into context in reference to the languages and cultures we teach and celebrate at LaSalle II. Be sure to check them out the next time you are on the playground!
Huge thank you to our parent Kristin Drutchas for spearheading this effort and Paul Feaser, a neighborhood resident who did the tiles.

Spread Kindness Like Confetti!
After being inspired by Kid President and daily Social Emotional Lessons, Mrs. McIlvain's class decided that the best way to make the future awesome is by being kind today. The "Kindness Ninjas" of Room 223 made encouraging notes and stuck them on random lockers in the Branch. We found that this act of kindness brightened our day, too! Be on the lookout, the Kindness can strike anytime.
